I have been here twice. The museum is well done, but mostly geared for the schools, the younger people, school teachers and those just interested in some old Sacramento history. It is a nice rainy day activity. They do change it up and add new exhibits. So if you have not been in a few years, you might see something... More

Decided to visit on a "free admission" day. Free parking in the lot across the street was easy and definitely a plus in downtown Sacramento. Unfortunately, we came from outside the area so Sacramento Regional transit was not an option for us. I say unfortunately as the light rail tracks run right by the museum front door. Pluses- LOTS of... More

"The California Museum" overall is not worth the visit. The Hall of Fame is presented very well and the California's Remarkable Women is broad in scope and both historically and contemporaneously relevant and interesting. The Uprooted exhibit on the internment of the Japanese Americans was also well balanced and thought provoking. The exhibits geared toward children seem to be decently... More

My husband and I have been living in California for going on 3 years now. I've been wanting to visit this museum and we finally did! We got in for free thanks to the Blue Star Families program that runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day (active duty military only). That was a nice surprise! The museum features some really... More

My students thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits. Because we arrived later in the day on a Thursday we practically had the museum to ourselves which made it easier to manage our group.

We like to learn about the history of the area we are visiting and they did a great job explaining the history and changes in the area.

This is a museum that celebrates the life, history and people of California. It has a special emphasis on the famous folks, especially women, and the native Americans. The most interesting display to me was the one on the internment of the Japanese Americans during World War Two - not a bright spot in American history. The museum does not... More

Spend a good 90 minutes walking around...interesting stuff and well presented. Some things you wont see anywhere else.
