For those of you that gets emotional an intimate wine experience tasting fantastic wines then this is the place. I don’t know how I stumbled upon this place but it was the highlight of our days in Napa. Jeff Alexander spent a lot of fun time explaining the history, ownership, creation of the caves and winery to provide a wonderful backdrop to the tasting set up for us in one of the cave junctures. Although not a Chardonnay drinker we ended up buying 5 fantastic bottles, not to mention multiple Pinot Noirs and a phenomenal Cab. This place is unbelievable! Thanks Jeff!

If you are looking for a very special tasting with very special limited production wines be sure to fit in a tasting at Chateau Boswell. Be aware tastings are by appointment only! The grounds are beautiful! You enter the gates beside large towering majestic junipers then see the beautiful building and grounds. There are old established oaks around the building offering shade to an outdoor area. The large glass main entry doors are sheltered by greenery and lead you into an entryway of black obsidian from the grounds and a large cave dome shaped main tasting area with a table seating 6-8 people. While receiving a tour of the grounds and the caves you will hear the family story of Chateau Boswell which is quite impressive starting in 1979 (now 40 years). Through the domed tasting area you see a majestic stairway leading down into the lower caves which house the barrels and smaller tasting areas. It is amazing hearing the story of digging the underground caves when additional space was needed for the wine operation. There is one main passageway with multiple alcoves branching off to each side. We had our tasting in one of those alcoves. It was set up nicely with the bottles we were going to taste, our glasses, the pricing and order sheets with pens for notes and spitting cups available. Allison was fantastic through the tour and tasting! The price points are higher than some other vineyards but the wines are not highly distributed and each wine we tasted was so smooth and special, worth the price. They have a loyal following and membership and produce what they can sell. This is truly an exceptional and unique experience for any wine lover!

Even though we think we know a good bit about wine, we did not know CHATEAU BOSWELL; IT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED. Our first day in Napa, we ordered a glass of the Boswell chardonnay and it was so compelling that knew we must learn about their winery. The carved out of the rock cellar is itself an exquisite experience. The young man who guided us could not have been more generous with his time. His discussion and respect for the Boswell wines and management was genuine. If you treat yourself to this rich experience I am certain you will come away feeling as we do, "where have you been all our lives". Do not miss this beautiful experience.

Wow. Such a fantastic experience, the grounds are beautiful, the cellars are underground and stunning, and the wines are phenomenal. The whole visit takes about 90 minutes, and is very private (only one group at a time). It was the best cellar door experience of our Napa trip by a long way, flowing naturally rather than a rote script delivered for the nth time. The tasting fee is also offset against any wines you buy which it seems isn’t always the case in Napa. If you like top-notch, limited production wines and are interested in a highly engaging and intimate tasting experience, I would definitely recommend organising a visit. They are appointment only.
