Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Attended a small convention here. It is nicely designed with ball rooms, exhibit halls, and meeting rooms all fairly close together. It is also adjacent to two major hotels, and close to the downtown San Jose restaurants
The event I attended has about a thousand participants. This venue was perfect for it.

I have attended “FurCon” for three years now, and I believe this venue is ideal to host a convention like Further Confusion. Located in-between two hotels (SJ Marriott and SJ Hilton) with easy accessibility is perfect, especially when fursuiting. FIVE CLAWS UP!!!!! Joe G. Bear

I have attended many conferences at the S.J. convention center and access is great if staying downtown, or taking the VTRA light rails, which stops in front. I look forward to events knowing there is easy access, and a well organization event in store.

This convention center is fairly new and has nice ambience. Close to hotels and the light rail station and buses so it is easy to get around. They also have a great caterer if one is having food as well as a program. The staff is friendly and helpful.

We usually go to the Harvest Festival every year Thanksgiving Weekend. It is crowded, but well organized. The tickets are easy to obtain. Parking can sometimes be a problem but there is an attached garage. And once you are downtown there are so many great restaurants to try.

I have been to two conferences here, and they were both flawlessly executed. It is a great venue for a large conference in a great location.

Yep. Kinda nice. Has escalators and elevators and stairs. Three levels of rooms and a parking garage. Artwork that looks like a mushroom sits outside.

It's great because the area is very walkable with plenty of bars and restaurants.

However, it is basically a big room. So, I wasn't super impressed.

I was at the convention center for Blogher 2014. I like how my hotel was connected to the convention center and it was located in what appeared to be the center of San Jose. It was large, spacious, and a good convention center. I thought that it could have more seating in more areas of the hotel and it was hard to find rooms. The markings on the smaller rooms were very hard to see. I am not sure I will have the opportunity to go back there but it was a regular convention center in my eyes.

If you're thinking of planning a convention here, run away as fast as you can! I ran backstage of a show there this year and it was just dreadful. They were constantly trying to charge everything they could, sooner than the contract indicated, like no other center we've dealt with.

I also found the staff to be shockingly bad. They were condescending and rude. Maybe it is because I'm a woman and they aren't used to dealing with women? But this is the 8th big convention I've handled and I've never experienced anything like this! (There was one exception--Joe (I think that is who) was nice, helpful, competent and seemed capable of hearing a woman's voice. The rest of the guys wouldn't read a show flow to save their lives and also just had a lack of knowledge that was almost laughable. They make it really difficult to accommodate little requests that were easy, like a speaker wanting to use a lav instead of the podium, and kept demanding things far in advance. One of our videos was coming from a very prominent person and we've had videos from that person before and the tech guy was SO upset that I only got it to him an hour beforehand, because he claimed this person wouldn't be capable of delivering a good quality video.

For attendees it is fine, but if you're running a convention, talk to people who have run conventions there before. Or add $75,000 dollars to your budget because they will do their best to pad your bill by that amount and keep in mind they will want everyone paid before the convention can open.
