The Mission constructed of adobe bricks in 1776 was the 7th of the Spanish Missions in California, all founded by Father Junipero Serra. An easy walking tour of the Mission and grounds affords a great understanding and tribute to the early residents who used the buildings for living, dining, shops, storage, religious services, and even a jail. It is also... More

The Mission is a slice of life as it was back then. Of course, I wish they'd tell the whole story, but they never do. Anyway, the beauty of the architecture and the gardens makes me wistful for bygone days-before California became so commercialized. The swallows were on to something when they made this their home long ago!

I really enjoyed the audio tour. It made the visit for me. It is free with admission. Each audio stop was not too long. You could play additional information if you were interested which I appreciated. I brought my kids along. My wife and I listened to most of the audio while my kids did not.

This was a random visit for a few hours while visiting relatives in Wildomar. Being from the East Coast, it was a scary ride on Ortega Highway over the mountains, but worth the trip. Parking was available on the street near the East gate. I have arthritis, but the walk was easy, and there are numerous benches around the courtyard.... More

We really enjoyed our visit there. The exhibit were very explicit and informational. The buildings are beautiful, but we were amazed by the beauty of all the cacti... There are a lot of opportunities for beautiful pictures. Highly recommend it.

Recently had the chance to go here - we booked a guided tour and got so much information. Tons of amazing history here and really shows what life was like at the mission. The gardens are very beautiful and well maintained.... the hummingbirds were a pleasant surprise

While staying in this general area, we toured this famous mission. We took the guided tour (CJ was great!), which was well worth the small additional charge. Visiting places like this is a good way to learn history in a more meaningful way than what we may have "studied" in school. Be sure to visit the little historic area in... More

A stroll through time, walking past gorgeous fountain and beautiful gardens. Exhibits are interesting and focus on missionaries and native indians who built the mission, tannery and bell arches.

The mission is very pretty with a lot to see. We went with a few young children and they also enjoyed it. My recommendation would be to get the audio player, it was included in the admission price. They audio tour is available in an adult format as well as a children's format. The kids thought the stories from the... More

Nice visit-- we would have enjoyed it a little better if it hadn't been raining. Beautiful structures--especially the church. Lots of hummingbirds around...nice gift shop.
