Want a piece of ABC gum? Head to this fascinating, if somewhat unsanitary, walkway that features walls covered with gum of the "already been chewed" variety.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s an ‘oddity’ nothing more nothing less. A short alley with chewed gum on the walls. I just found it gross and wondered why the city did not clean the whole thing up. The gum is not an artistic expression, it does not form a mural or attempt to be anything other than what it is. Does this really qualify as a sight-to-see? What’s next regurgitated food on a wall? The fact that its Trip advisor rating is better than the farmer’s markets or other museums or activities is a bit appalling and can’t be what this nice city wants to be known for.

One of the many pitstops on our road trip up the 101 was Bubblegum Alley in San Luis Obispo.
Step 1: Grab a pack of Bubbalicious gum and chew up the biggest wad you can without choking on it.
Step 2: Find the Bubblegum Alley off of Higher Street in downtown San Luis Obispo
Step 3: Put your big chewed up wad of gum on the wall and forever know that you contributed to this masterpiece!
Step 4: Snap a picture or it never happened.

There is a gum wall in Seattle so we were excited to visit the one in San Luis Obispo. Smaller but still just as gross.

This place is freakin nasty. It is a bunch of people's old bubblegum stuck to a brick wall on both sides. Once I saw a guy lick it. (It wasn't me.) I wanted to throw up.

Bubblegum alley is not cute, or charming, it is a filthy alleyway between a few bars where drunk kids frequently vomit and urinate on top of the layers of bubble gum. I'm not sure what this says about SLO that is is #4 and #6 on our list of things to do but that is an embarrassment to this lovely city.

This alley is so cool. It is gross but entirely fascinating. It's something to see but it's just a five minute experience.

We were quite grossed out by this. It was a skinny alley downtown and it was filled with gum. The gym looked dirty and even moldy or rotten. It kind of ruined the beautiful downtown atmosphere.

It is what it says it is--an alley covered in gum. Similar to the Pike Place bubblegum alley in Seattle, but only about a quarter of the size. Fun free entertainment. Look but don't touch and add your own wad!

started out as just a couple pieces...then a whole row of brick- now a 'tourist' attraction. Agree that adults will find disgusting...children will love it.

Wow! So much chewed bubble gum I've never seen in my life! So much color and bizarre shapes... amazing! But don't get overexcited there as you might get disgust from thinking how exactly this canvas got "painted". :-) We found this place fun to visit with kids, who had a lot of fun contributing their own gum to the collection. Yes, it is open at night. It is just an alley way between two buildings - open 24/7.
