Beautiful historic church!

Went during the weekday. Was busy with school. Didn't go in. Beautiful grounds. Walked around and enjoyed the experience.

We traveled there last week with a small group. It has a lovely Chapel and larger church with stunning stained glass. It's a beautiful piece of history. There is literature available for grade school students who are completing mission projects for school. There is a gift shop, school and church on the site. The setting is on a hill in... More

The original church fell into direpair and decay rapidly after the secularization of the churches. Kit Carson was here and Fremont headquartered here shortly, using the church to stable his companies horses.

If Catholicism holds meaning for you, you would enjoy this stop. On the same site as Mission is a large beautiful functioning church. If you are mostly interested the history aspect of the Mission you may be disappointed. It is small and only takes a few minutes to see without much information about its history posted. If you are in... More

Came upon this place when walking through San Rafael, CA. beautiful catholic church with gorgeous gardens, lovely smaller chapel and a terrific historical museum and shop on site to learn about the area. Took about 30 minutes to see everything and church is only open for service on Saturday and Sunday. But the sweet little, cool chapel is open during... More

I have visited 18 of the 21 California Missions and I am sad to say this one is a little disappointing. There isn't much of it to see in the first place and very little original structure or foundation which most of the other Missions still have. In and out in about 10 min. flat. You have seen it all.... More

This was the 7th mission on our trip so I think we can say that this one was not at the top of our list. The mission is in a quadrangle with the street and the parish church. The mission as open to visit and had resources available for 4th grade projects. It was not possible to visit the parish... More

You have to see this place. A wonderful church. A lot of history here. Worth a short visit. Parking can be a challenge depending on the day and time.

Went on a family mission trip July of 2016. This mission is really small and is in the heart of San Rafael. Took about 10 minutes to walk around. The gift shop was not open, but looked interesting. The staff was kind and helpful. No cost to enter.

None of the original building remain except for the mission church on the grounds of a newer church. Gift shop hours on Mon Wed. And Fri. Construction methods and materials very similar to that of other mission constructs. A nice visit but without any historical artifacts as one would expect.
