Good birding spot

Lots of snowy plovers, as well as terns, gulls and pelicans. With the stream bisecting the beach you get several habitat types.

Stroll out to the end of the small pier and you may see dolphins playing or during March/April/May, mama and baby gray whales journeying north. They often come into the cove to feed and I have had them rub their barnacle encrusted skin against the pier! Stroll the beach without hundreds of people around you. It is a California treasure.

Lovely beach....looks like they rent kayaks but were not open when we were there. A long scenic pier to walk along. We walked the beach and found some great rocks....almost as good as Moonstone Beach!

We stopped here after being told it was warmer for swimming in October. There were maybe 10 people on the beach when we were here on a Thursday afternoon. Pretty beach and nice pier for walking.

We stopped here to have our picnic lunch in a scenic location. Walked out on the pier and got great views looking back at the coastline. The Hearst castle is very visible from the pier, especially with binoculars. You can rent kayaks on the beach below, and people were fishing as well. But the crowning glory of this park was... More

This was a nice, rock beach in the old town of San Simeon which was very quaint. Explore the beach as well as the little town and take a walk back in time. The beach was beautiful with lots of ice plant in bloom.

Beach was very pretty. Did not go to the Hearst house would have been $75 each for the 3 tours. No way to see how a robber baron lived and towered over the working class of people. Sorry just won't add to the problem.

The grassy area at the top is a great place for picnics or just to sit in a beach chair and watch the ocean activity. The pier is nice for getting a different point of view or to go fishing. There are trails if you feel like hiking. There are also easy bathroom facilities available. It can get windy, which... More

Stopped to checkout the area for a future picnic. Looks like the hours are 8 a.m. to sunset. The are two areas with BBQ Grills and picnic the first area is just as you come in with very little shade and other is down by the beach area where there is a lot more shade. They have really nice and... More
