Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This location is best accessed when weather is good. It’s a short walk but worth it because the cove is a special area, and is about 1/2 mile in length. A lot of neat beach stuff to see.

There are so many place to stop on this drive that you really do have to plan them in advance, or you will never get to your destination. If you are going to the Hearst Castle, planning is critical. Too many stops and you will miss your tour, and that would be a shame!

This is a good stop--beautiful!

My husband & I walked this beach in search of jade & moonstones, but didn't see any. However, while I was taking pictures a baby seal came out of the surf and walked right past us as if he belonged here. He went up the steps, past a "No Trespassing sign" right up to a condo and hung out on the deck! Go figure! Always fun to see wildlife.

I took time to walk the beach on this most gorgeous, beautiful day, walking along the edge of the waves hunting for sea glass. Before I knew it I had reached the end and had to turn around when I heard a sound. Lifting my head I saw an elephant seal sunning himself against the hill. Surprised to see I'd walked all the way down to the end of the beach and not noticed about a dozen of these amazing creatures lying so close but minding their own business and I doing the same. The beauty of the cove together with this experience makes this my favorite beach.

This place is easy to miss, right off HWy 1 south of Big Sur, next to Plaskett Ridge Road. To enter from the north access, it is south of the big parking lot for Sand Dollar Beach. Once you walk out from the parking area, there is a short trail to your right, but it leads to a steep, roped trail. Take photos from the top of the trail, then return to the forked area and walk the left side trail. Along the trail there are beautiful ocean views with rocky bluff. Some trails can get narrow and there are poison oaks. So be cautioned not to touch the three leaved poison oaks and avoid narrow trails. I would say it is not for young children. You can also enter from the south entrance two miles away, which I didn’t do.

Great place to visit and camp with kids. At low tide, you can find jade without a wet suit. The best time to find jade is the first the first time just after a storm.

Do you want to climb down a cliff? No? Neither did I. Wish I had known that would be required to get to this beach, so I could have saved myself the trouble of driving down here, slipping and falling on the long muddy trail to the cliff, and then discovering that there was no way in heck I'd be getting down the slippery muddy cliff to the beach. Even if it wasn't muddy, I don't see how people safely get down the bluff to the beach. Maybe if you know exactly where to go when the path splits and runs parallel to the cliff over the beach, maybe there's a less inaccessible place to get down the cliff, but I ran out of patience when I saw what a long, vertical climb down it would be. Waste of time.

The beach is beautiful. You don't have a lot of tourist. This is a nice place to come to during the afternoon when the other beaches are occupied by tourist.

I think the signs were missing because we looked all over for this beach and never found it, but found several ticks in the process!
