Our hotel recommended we visit the court house while in Santa Barbara. It's a gem. The Italian villa style exterior with the intricate Moroccan tiling on the inside made for a beautiful courthouse any judge would want to work in. You can either take the elevator up to the terrace which gives you a 360 degree panoramic view of Santa... More

This courthouse is a very historical place, very nice courtyard and many beautiful art works. It's free to visit and when we were there we saw a wedding hosted there. Go to the top of the courthouse to see the view of SB, very nice view.

Occupying an entire city block, the courthouse presents an exotic fantasia of Spanish Andalusian elements integrated into a working public environment. Visitors are welcome to wander the corridors on the first and second floors. Be sure to see the in-theme telephone (!) booths and bathrooms. An elevator goes to the observation deck above the tower's clock, where you can see... More

It's worth taking a half-hour while in SB and walking around the Courthouse. The architecture, murals, and tiled walls and floors are unlike any courthouse you'll ever see. And it's a working courthouse! It's kind of cool to be looking at the architecture while an attorney and his client are in the same hallway discussing their case...

Recommended by a waitress, while having coffee,we decided to take a look. Centre of town on a beauty of a road that runs parallel to State Street. Spectacular building. Have a wander and don't forget to go up to the roof terrace. Lovely

An attractive, interesting building full of local history. The 1400 free tour is excellent. The building is architecturally whimsical and playful. Well worth a visit.

I've lived in Santa Barbara for over 40 years and have been to the courthouse many times. My friend Jane DeSelm lead a tour of the courthouse. It was great. I learned so many interesting things. Did you know Peter Pan is in one of the Spanish murals? A fun free tour.

The courthouse is crazy beautiful and cool! A must see in my book. My husband and I almost blew it off; it's just a courthouse, right? So glad we didn't!! We parked on the street and walked around the grounds and explored inside. It looks like an old mission, but we learned it was built as a courthouse in this... More

Stopped here not knowing what to expect. Very glad we did. Very interesting architecture. Be sure to go to the observation deck for the spectacular views. On the walk down you get to see the Seth Thomas clockworks that run the clock on the clock tower. Saw the Mural Room where the Supervisors meet. What a room! Highly recommended!
