Beautiful mission!

There is a lot of history on the Chumash tribe and a very beautiful mission. We did the self guided tour and it only took about an hour.

The Santa Barbara Mission is a large and impressive structure on the outskirts of downtown. The museum inside is limited but contains a number of artifacts and displays explaining the role of the missionaries in settling California. The cloisters and gardens are worth seeing. Make sure that you find and spend some time in the chapel, which combines a historical... More

Incredibly well maintained historical Spanish Catholic mission structures, wall art, statues and relics. Reasonably priced tours and gift shop. Church facilities are still in use, so be sure to check in advance.

The Mission in Santa Barbara is the 10th mission in the California chain. A very beautiful place with a small history museum inside and the gravesites of early settlers. This is dedicated to the Chumash Indians that inhabited the area in the early 1700's and the Spanish who came here to settle the area, educate and teach their religion.

Lots of history surrounding this beautiful structure and grounds which remind us of the Camino Real of early California history. Well worth an hour or so. .

I love this place. It's not an extensive tour, only takes maybe 1/2 an hour. But, the little museum of monk life, and the history behind it all is really engaging. The sanctuary is beautiful, as are the gardens and the crypts. It's probably one of the most beautiful missions in California. The view from in front of the mission... More

This has great history of the local area. Try to get into the chapel to view the interior. Was being used on Sunday for a service. Good gift shop to buy items.
