Biking is the best way to tour SB and the other hamlets. Drivers are patient and respectful and the bike lanes are scenic. One sees a lot more on 2 wheels, and it is easy to stop, wander and to soak up the sun and the scenery.

This was across from our hotel and makes for a great before or after meal exercise experience. Beach view without the sand in your shoes.

I have biked and inline skated on the path for a number of years but parts of it are in need of repair and resurfacing. Skating would be difficult along the stretch near the "wildfowl preserve" in back of the zoo. Come on Santa Barbara, its not like you don't have the money!

We rode this bike trail from Santa Barbara to Montecito. The weather was beautiful and the ride easy - best suited for site seeing. It's only about 6 mikes round trip. Santa Barbarans are very bike frendly and super courteous when driving around cyclists. We used bikes from our hotel, but there are many bike shops in town.

This bike path is great for strolling, but not racing at high speeds, as it is shared in many parts with walkers, runners and tourists' with other mobile devices like surreys and baby strollers. The path itself is lovely and continues along from a bird sanctuary, the volley ball courts on West Beach, the Sunday art show, Stearns Wharf, the... More

Our Brisas hotel offered free bikes and we rode up the Shoreline Road to the scenic park on a hill and then back down all along the beach on the bike path. Easy, flat ride, very pleasant.

There's lots to see on this ride, plenty of eccentrics under the shade of the trees, skate kids and BMX bandits, mansions and surf bums' vans. It's flat and can be hot, but there's usually a breeze in the afternoon. Ride friendly!

Here's the thing, it's totally easy and accessible. You don't have to have a bike, you can rent one from multiple vendors. It's about as beautiful as can be. You can hit probably 10 other 5 star attractions while riding, including Stearn's Wharf, the Maritime Museum and the Zoo and it makes Santa Monica bike path look like a dump.... More
