Custom Curated and Cultivated Captain Jack’s began in 2005 after the founders spent a week in Hawaii engaging in fun-filled adventure tours. Captain Jack’s is now owned and operated by longtime educator and local history lover Meredith Brace. Captain Jack’s offers Santa Ynez Valley wine tours, beer tours, historical and architectural tours, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, sailing, private charters, cultural tours and whale watching. The company prides itself in making sure each tour is suited to the individual needs and interests of each guest or group. Meredith’s staff consists of fellow empty nesters who have spent many years in the area and are eager to share their love for Santa Barbara and the tri-county area with travelers of all ages and interests. We had such a wonderful experience on our wine tasting tour. Meredith is the best! She shared the rich history of Santa Barbara while providing a seamless wine tasting experience. The tour was picturesque and the wine was delicious!

Loved this wine tour! Meredith, our guide, helped us plan a marvelous day touring wineries and tasting rooms (and an olive oil tasting) in Santa Ynez and Los Olivos. She coordinated everything (tasting reservations and fees) and was responsive to all our picky requests! The transit van was immaculate with large windows and bucket seating for all. Meredith offered great information about the valley and the wineries. With a group of 5, we were treated like a private tour group but were only charged the public tour cost - great value! Honestly, could not have asked for a more personable and accommodating guide/driver; she does it all. We highly recommend using this tour company for a excellent and memorable experience!

Three weeks ago my husband and I took a trip to Santa Barbara for his birthday. We booked the wine tasting tour and opted to visit two wine tasting rooms and one distillery (which were all amazing!). We even grabbed a quick bite at Panino Santa Barbara.
Our guide, Michelle, was the absolute BEST!! She was so friendly and knew a lot about the area. When she found out that my husband and I were pretty much winging our plans the remainder of our trip, she was able to help with suggestions. She even checked availability for dinner reservations for a few places we were interested in trying and we were able to set up plans for the next two nights. Michelle went above and beyond in making not only our tasting - but our trip to Santa Barbara such great experience!
My husband and I can’t wait for our next trip to the area, and we will definitely be booking another tour with Captain Jack’s!

The activities and views were amazing! My husband and I booked this tour for our honeymoon and had a lot of fun. Our tour guides were very welcoming and made the experience comfortable and fun! All the experiences were great but kayaking was our favorite.

Meredith is so knowledgeable about historic downtown Santa Barbara. She took us all around the city showing us the architectural historical landmarks. One can tell that this is a labor of love for her to give tours of this beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour of historic downtown Santa Barbara.

We had the best time with Captain Jacks! Our driver Michelle was amazing and was also very knowledgeable about the area and wineries we went too, offering suggestions along the way. This was my 6th time bookong with Captain Jacks and I’ll always go back!

It was my first winery tour and I must say it was a great one! Meredith our tour guide was kind, knowledgeable, and gave us interesting facts on Santa Barbara along the way up. We had our own little private tour for my friend's birthday, which made it all the more fun and relaxing as we shuttled around to all three wineries. Thanks again Captain Jack for a fabulous time!

Amazing and fun wine tour for my wife and I and two other couples. Michelle took great care of us. I've visited Solvang and wineries multiple times over the years and Capt Jacks is my new go to. Visited three wineries, lunch at the 2nd. We never felt rushed and no visit ever dragged either. Highly recommend!

Meredith with Capitan Jack's was amazing! I used her for a corporate event where we had 3 different activity offerings (Coastal Cruise, Horseback Riding & Wine Tasting). The logistics of transportation, the actual activity, etc. was fantastic! Could not recommended a better company!

hello is there a minimum age for kayaking or horseback riding? and is the horseback riding done at a partucular ranch?

Ahoy! You must be 7 to ride the horses. We ride at a private ranch 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara. Once you book your ride we will send a confirmation email with directions to the ranch. There is no age limit on the kayaking as long as they are in a double kayak with adult.

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes we do provide a local 2 hour Santa Barbara city tour. The price is $175.00. The vehicle can hold up to 12 guests. So the price is a flat $175.00 no matter how many guests. We can make it a 4 hr tour & take you to Solvang, however keep in mind it is a 50 minute drive each way. The charge for that tour would be $375.00
