Nice place to rela, surf or & watch the surfers

We're staying at the Dream Inn, which is right on the beach. Lots of activity all day, but not overly crowded. Plenty of restaurants & other activities nearby.

Great spot for people viewing while laying on the beach. Kind of away from the main tourist section on the beach.

Can be crowded -- but the surf us usually tame, and it's easy to get on and off the beach. This is a great place to learn to surf, as it has a wide shallow break.

Easy to access. Close to Boardwalk attractions. West of the pier - smaller beach. Somewhat dirty, sand and water. Good spot just to stick your toes in or visit. I am not a surfer. My favorite part of this beach was being able to see across Monterey Bay to Carmel-by-the Sea when the fog wasn't too dense. Also not far... More

This is the spot where surfers head out to catch waves. It is a nice spot for people watching. There is a lot of seaweed on the beach. Which I guess is nature so it is what it is. Also during the week there is Jr. Lifeguard camp so it is pretty crowded with kids.

It's really such a shame that this beach is so gross- it could be beautiful. But the seaweed is left everywhere to rot and stink. Swarms of flies land all over you no matter what you do. 4th of July weekend, you think the city would have raked the rotting stinking seaweed. It was horrible on both sides of the... More

What a great location to surf for the first time! Nice waves, but shallow enough to be relaxed while trying to get up for the first time.

Needles and human feces can be found here on the regular. Would never go here especially with children. Santa Cruz County has many beautiful beaches but this one is to be avoided.

very popular beach for the tourists. Public restrooms, wharf for walking and eating some restaurants... come earliest as the best to park..

Cowell's is a great beach for learning to surf or just enjoying the beach. Next to the wharf and near the Boardwalk.
