It's a fun pier for sure! The amusement park is so much fun for kids. It's a nice, safe area with lots to do.

We had a fabulous time on the pier! There are so many fun activities for kids of all ages. The restaurants are clean and inviting with a wide variety of foods to appeal to multiple appetites. We enjoyed fun souvenir shopping as well. We chose not to ride the rides, as we were more focused on the beach, but they... More

The pier has it's own charm like the beach. Night at pier is like some carnival on weekends. I think that's how locals spend their weekends usually. You will get many food and drinks options, rides are there which I found quite expensive. There are souvenirs shops, shops selling random, quirky stuff and some street musicians. Overall you will love... More

Spent a very nice relaxing day in Santa Monica especially the Pier. There are several shops, a few restaurants and a lot of buskers. Just off the Pier you can walk on a wooden foot path on the beach. If you want a place to chill with a nice atmosphere I would certainly recommend time at the Santa Monica Pier.

The pier is was a nice stroll from start to finish with a few 'gimmick' shops along the way. The restrooms were clean and tidy so you didn't have to be too concerned about using them. There is a theme park of sorts along the pier but the day we went, it didnt have too many people occupying it. If... More

It's really great to stroll around the pier! It's so unique and interesting plus it's always on tv! You can go on a ride, shop, buy food and just people watch and then stroll on the endless beach! Its very busy so parking can be tricky getting on and off the pier, plus it weird to drive on the wood... More

The pier provides lots of opportunities to stop for refreshment on a visit to Santa Monica. There is a range of eateries. There are buskers. There's a trapeze school and there's a ferris wheel over the ocean.

Entertaining and great location, expected more food options. Saw a wild seal swimming next to the jetty which was great.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
