The area

Neighbourhood: Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

Great little place avoiding the LA scene

Been a long time since we've been to a comedy show - thank you Covid! Was excited to see a show during our time in Marina Del Rey visiting family. We liked this idea as it was only $25 a ticket (with the fees per ticket, etc which always aggravates me but that's world today). We saw the 8pm show on a Friday night. Really easy to park in the garage nearby for like $5 and then walk to the entrance which is sort of in an alley. No drink minimum which is great and drinks were normal prices too! I think just beer and wine but it's a small club and you go up and get your drinks which is fine. They had about 6 different comedians during the show only with the bartender and the host who all do whatever needs to be done. No big names but I recognized one from one of those national shows. Pretty funny. They then invite you to stay for the second show if you want if it's not sold out and there are different comedians. I would have done that had we planned in advance but we were ready to leave. Good show though and these people work really hard!

HERE’s a secret.... get there early and stay for the rest. That’s the ONLY way to do this place.

You can literally park it here from 5pm and be intertained until nearly midnightish.

Non stop shenanigans ALL WEEK LONG!

An epic mashup of newbies and the big leagues.

This is a no heckle club with more than fair drink and snack prices.

The expo blue line will drop you off just yards away.

THREE WORDS OF CAUTION...

1. On Sundays the metro closes early so plan accordingly

2. If you stay late - the food situation is non existant after dark - so take care of your hungry tummy before hand

3. Tickets for Dana Carvey sell out in 1 billionth of a second - so the trick is to arrive anyway and hope for no shows.

This was the third time I've taken my daughter and her husband to the 10 p.m. Improvable show on my visits to the LA area from the East Coast and it was the funniest--and again the best bargain in town. Tickets are little more than $10 each, if I remember correctly. Westside is a small venue off an alleyway in the center of Santa Monica. You line up and wait to enter until the previous show crowd exits. I think Westside seats 86 people or less at small round tables facing the stage. The reason it is small: I believe performers at shows in venues that small are exempt from paying union rates. P.S. You can now buy your tickets in advance on Westside's internet site and you would be wise to do so. It's been a sell-out night each of the three times I've been there. (One more thing: FYI, there is a multi-floor city parking garage right across the alley from Westside.)

Please GO THERE & give young talent (& not so talented) an audience!!! It’s free & no minimum drinks. Abit hard to find - in a wide alley behind 1323 3rd street promenade - but it’s safe, go on down, they’re friendly ! Myself & 19 yr old son went to the open mic on a Friday evening at 6 pm when on holidays there & enjoyed it so much we went back with a friend the following Fri. Everyone gets 3 mins stand up, some very good & some not so but really worth a vist. The connecting guy is great. Deserves more customers. Would have loved to see the later shows but you have to be over 21.

this was the after prom show this year and it was a waste of my life and time. it was the worst 1.5 hours. we even left early so it was longer than that. it went downhill the moment i saw agent pepper jack walk out on stage with our AP. please don’t hire for teenagers or anyone in general. this was real bad -4/10 recommend.

Stopped to see the comedy sketch show and had a good time. Only $5 cover to get in the door, and had a good crowd that filled most of the seats. The venue is not very large and the main entrance is in the alley but we were glad we found it!

With adjacent 90 minutes free parking, cheap admission, no drink minimum and a selection of low priced beer and wine, this is a fun place seven nights a week. Top long form improv teams, the internationally renowned Mission Improvable short form show, sketch and standup guarantee an evening of laughs. You never know who might be on stage: Howie Mandel, Dana Carvey, Kevin Pollack, Hasan Minhaj, Roy Wood, Jr. and other celebs drop by now and then. And you can join an improv jam on Thursday nights at 11 for free!

Great place to catch some excellent stand-up and improv comedy!

We come here often to check out the stand-up comedians that come through. Lately big names like Dana Carvey have been regularly having shows! Also, check out Mission Improvable on Fri and Sat nights, it's mind blowing and totally hilarious! On week nights there are also shows that are great too! Really, never a night to not check out this theater!
