Chic and sophisticated central CA town

I brought my 83-year old mother to Santa Ynez to gamble at the Chumash Casino. We stopped in the little town of Santa Ynez for a meal afterwards. I thought it would be a tiny, dusty farm town. To my delight, I found the people to be sophisticated and seemingly wealthy, yet down to earth. Though the main area is... More

Santa Ynez Valley has its distinct appellation, and there are some exceptional wines to taste. But the area is also very scenic, with little traffic on the country roads lined with vineyards or cattle ranches under the oaks. It is worth taking a side trip to wander along the quiet back roads and stop to taste some very good wines... More

We are totally in love with the beauty of this Valley and the quality or their wines .We live close enough to come often although we do skip summers as it gets a bit crowded. It's a real treat for us to stay a couple days up here. We also like Paso Robles pretty well. The wines are pretty good... More

Wonderful time in the area. There are so many wineries around the area it is difficult to choose. There are good maps available everywhere, that make navigating easy. Plenty of guided tours available if you plan to do a lot of 'tasting'. The wines are so good this is a great way to enjoy the area. We stayed at the... More

Spent 2 days with the Mrs getting to know the area. So peaceful and relaxing! So many things to do and see are only a 10 -30 minute drive in any direction.

Quiet nights, wake up to the sound of birds, lazy days, wave to familiar friendly faces, walk your dog without a leash, that is the valley

Make sure you have some kind of GPS-based navigation and you'll have a good time in the SY Valley. Take lots of pictures of the beautiful rolling hills and stop in the many wineries along the way. Suggestion: Do the tour clock-wise starting in Solvang / Buellton; have lunch in Lompoc; do the northern route in the P.M. Note: They... More

This was our second trip to Santa Ynez Valley. We will be back next year to stay a month. There are genuine things to see, do and experience here, we have barely scratched the surface. The local people make this area noteworthy; whether operating a BnB or a wine room; each person we spoke with gave us a wealth of... More

So much to see and we just drove all over the valley. We love to drive with no time restrictions and go and enjoy the scenery. Met locals and they were very friendly and helpful.
