My family had originally booked with a different sailing outfit, but when they overbooked, they recommended Captain Heather. It turned out to be a great fit - Heather was a calm, warm, and competent presence behind the wheel, and her boat was pristine and outfitted with warm blankets, cushions that we could use to sit up front, and a cooler for our drinks. Though the day was windy and we had been warned that the water might be a bit choppy, the ride was incredibly smooth. (This was especially notable when we looked around at other similarly sized sailboats touring the bay and they seemed to be leaning and bobbing a scary amount!) We definitely were grateful that we were in such safe hands! Heather is also a wonderful conversationalist - she's sailed everywhere from Tokyo Bay to Boston, she's raced, and she recently sailed with her kids all the way down to Mexico - and she's happy to share her fascinating anecdotes. Our route took us close to the Golden Gate (unfortunately, a huge cruise ship got there the same time we did, so we couldn't go under) and around Angel and Alcatraz Islands. We spotted some dolphins and got to see some very, very cute seals sunning themselves on the dock. Shout-out to Julius, Heather's son who was helping man the ship that day - it was cool to see someone so young so comfortable with the ship and all the nautical lingo, which may as well have been a foreign language to me! We felt really well-taken-care-of from the moment we met Heather to when we left her dock after our trip, making it one of our favorite days during our week in Sausalito!

Heather is just such an easy going person yet very capable captain! We had the best afternoon with her on her boat. We saw dolphins and seals and had the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the skyline of SF. Heather negotiated the currents and wind professionally. I couldn't have wished for a nicer person of more able captain to go out and sail with. Truly excellent, the highlight for me and my kids of our vacation!

Captain Heather is a dream! She helped my boyfriend plan a surprise proposal and it could not have been more perfect. She is a warm, friendly person and a highly skilled sailor. I would be happy to set sail with her any day and would highly recommend her for all your sailing desires. Thanks again Heather!

We escaped the heat of Dallas in August for a trip to Sausalito. My husband was intent on spending one of our days out sailing the bay, but we were not ready to bareboat in the tricky bay waters. While we booked with our trip with Captain Kirk sailing, he was short staffed and asked Captain Heather to go out with us for the day. She was absolutely amazing and allowed my husband to do most of the sailing with her expert coaching. We have been on a dozen sailing trips and rarely have such an experienced captain who is also willing to coach and teach. After 14 years of being a captain for others, Heather now owns her own boat and will be working for herself. We wanted to write this review to help her get started and assure anyone looking for a great day of sailing on the bay they could not go wrong with this choice.
