About
Merry Edwards Winery was founded in 1997 by one of California’s first highly successful female winemakers. We produce critically acclaimed, terroir-driven, single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from 80 acres of estate vineyards in the Russian River Valley as well as three appellation blends – Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Our proximity to the Pacific Ocean, cooling fog, sandy soils and other attributes of the winery’s Russian River vineyards lead to production of rich, ageable wines.

So glad we visited!
Aug 2021
We chose to do a tasting at Merry Edwards based on recommendations and proximity to our hotel, we could not be happier we chose to stop here! Our host was very informative and personable, we learned a lot about the region and had so much fun chatting with her. The tasting was reasonably priced as were the wines we ended up purchasing. The garden setting for the tastings is lovely. Highly recommend.

Great wines
Aug 2021
We arrived 45 minutes early for our scheduled tasting and Linda greeted us graciously and showed us a wonderful table on the patio. The wines were delicious and Linda was very knowledgeable about Merry Edwards, the wines and the area. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a few cases shipped home.

Had another great visit to Merry Edwards - Ryan did our tasting and was great. We visited 5 years ago and loved their wine, loved it just as much this time. We came for the Pinot Noirs but their Sauvignon Blanc stole the show!!!

Fantastic Sauvignon Blanc
May 2019 • Family
Had the opportunity to taste the Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc at a San Diego restaurant in January, 2019. While visiting family in Walnut Creek, CA, we went to the vineyards in Sonoma. Don’t miss if you are in the area. No charge for tasting and Sara was a delight in explaining why their wine is so unique.

A sophisticated treat and a learning experience

The Sauvignon Blanc may be greatest white wine made in America. I didn't come up with that myself but agree with the statement!

The Pinots are great too. Personally I find the blends--Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley--more accessible than the more expensive single vineyards. Either way you'll benefit from putting the red wines down for a few years at least.

Tasting wine at Merry Edwards Winery is engaging. You'll have a paper and pen for note taking in front of you along with your wine glass. Your host will share information about the vineyards, the wines and about Merry Edwards herself. While Merry Edwards has won the James Beard Award for Best Wine, Beer or Spirits Professional in the United States, as a female winemaker in the 1970s it wasn't an easy pathway.

If you walk-in vs making an appointment expect to wait 5-15 mins at peak times. Tastings are free. We visit annually for tasting and shopping.

There are several other tasting rooms worth visiting nearby.

Our Top Wine Tasting Experience
Jan 2019 • Family
I visited Merry Edwards with my wife and two young adult sons. After a week of tasting in both Napa and Sonoma, we unanimously determined that Merry Edwards was our top experience. We had a long drive from Napa to get to our 11 am appointment and were running 5-10 minutes late. We called from the road to alert them to our delay and it was not a problem - after a very short wait in their lobby with friendly staff - we were escorted to the tasting room. The presentation of the 6 wines tasted (chardonnay, four estate pinot noirs, and the sauvignon blanc) was beautifully done. I thought each of the wines was outstanding, and, as a bonus, our hostess (not Merry Edwards) poured their dessert wine for us to taste - also excellent. We bought a couple of bottles before leaving. The atmosphere of the tasting room, the demeanor of our hostess, and the quality of the wines were all outstanding. The "pourer" was knowledgeable about the wine and the vineyards producing them - showing us soil samples from the various vineyards. She had maps to share with us to show the location of the vineyards in the Russian River Valley. I'm now a big fan of Merry Edwards wines.
