After much research, chose SV over NV and 100% made right decision!

We were planning a trip to wine country from Tennessee and I spent ages trying to determine whether we should stay and center our trip in Napa Valley or Sonoma Valley. We both enjoy wine but are nowhere near wine snobs. We were coming as much for the scenery and food as wine! Specific to wine, I read in many... More

Sonoma is more relaxed than Nappa. The town is great and if you have a hotel near the central square it is a good location for shopping and meals etc. A great place to visit.

The Sonoma Valley is a place you will visit and want to stay. There are so many fabulous Wineries to visit and do some wine tasting. In Sonoma the shopping is great in all the little shops around the square. Great places to eat,a taste to fit almost everybody. There are many historical landmark to visit, and the views of the... While we originally planned to spend the majority of our time in Napa, my husband and I quickly changed our plans after a day in Sonoma. While we love wine in all forms, we felt Sonoma to be more intimate and fully of smaller, family run wineries. We preferred the charm of Sonoma compared to the corporate, industrial feel of... More

If you come to NorCal and just visit Napa Valley you'll be making a mistake. I live fairly close by and usually split time between the two. I am a wine club member in 3 wineries in Sonoma Valley and 2 in Napa. The vibe in Sonoma is a tad slower, and you have smaller crowds due to more overall... More

I found that Sonoma had the country feel that wineries need. Napa itself seemed to have lost that charm and has become trendy. Sonoma wineries had better prices as well

I prefer Northern Sonoma Valley for wine tasting because it is an easier to get around and it is a lot more "laid back" when you compare it to Napa Valley. Yes, there are fewer restaurants and few glitzy wineries, That said, I think it gives you a much better experience overall. Honest wineries with honest wines without the frantic... More

Wine without the attitude. Rural atmosphere with great wines to match. A more relaxed atmosphere than that of the Napa Valley. There are things for children here as well, Train Town in the town of Sonoma is special for kids and adults as well.

This was our first time visiting Sonoma Valley. We really enjoyed tasting wines from different wineries. The hospitality was great. Hope to return soon.

Sonoma Valley is a wide area of wineries and towns. Its significantly more laid back than its rival Napa Valley. Many wineries allow walk up tasting and many don't even charge a tasting fee. Compare that to Napa where you pretty much have to make a reservation and expect to pay $25pp and up for tastings.
