The park is great with no fee to walk around the beautiful grounds esp. for locals. But some people just don't follow the rules of the park leaving their dogs with no leash on and running around frightening the children and folks visiting the park. And the dog's face is covered in mud and dirt dripping with saliva!! Oh they don't even apologize to you for their dogs behavior or control them. Its up-to to oneself to fend themselves. But, This is not a dog park!!!!!
With no one to monitor the areas this is becoming a daily issue. How hard is to follow the 'dogs on leash only' rule. Wish the park authorities take notice and make them face consequences. PS: Once they leave the park, they promptly leash the dogs since they wont them go hit the traffic and get hurt, buts its ok to make them pounce on unsuspecting people.

Pretty park with trails surrounding a winery. Could be a serene place to relax and soak up the atmosphere but too many others in the park had been soaking up the winery's drinks. Just outside of Sonoma California but perhaps not really worth the trip unless combined with some wine tasting,

We hiked the well maintained but rustic trails and went in to wine taste after. It's SO beautiful and the perfect was to get some exercise before all the eating and sipping.

You don’t have to buy wine to use the picnic tables or the rest of the grounds in this beautiful park. It has some great hiking trails for moderate hikers with some elevation. Just a beautiful place to take your own picnic and enjoy the surroundings. There are restrooms and parking available.

Unfortunately, the lovely hiking trails in the surrounding Mayacamas Mountains are closed due to the wild fires last fall. Still the vineyards and park provide a stunning spot to appreciate nature. The Bartholomew Park Winery is located on the park grounds, but is a separate and distinct entity. Scenic picnic spots adjoint the replica Haraszthy Villa, adjacent to the winery (housed in the former Sonoma Valley Hospital building), and around the Pavilion, located at the site of the burned down Johson Victorian mansion ("The Castle"). This part of the park is quiet and intimate, and a bit hard to find. If you are walking up, follow the old road to the right behind the locked gate (you will have to walk around it; it is chained off). Or park at the Villa or winery. From the winery walk down toward the Villa; the path to the Pavilion area of the park heads off to the left just as you arrive at the Villa and just above the gated road (the path leads to this same road). From the Villa walk up towards the winery, the path is on the left just after the aforementioned gated road. Walk down the road and over the bridge. The park area opens to your right and down hill after the bridge. This part of the park is magical. Native Americans resided here from 2000 BC, with a Wappo Indian tribe habituating this spot from 250 AD to the 1700s. Amazing! Park opens at 10 AM and closes at 5 PM. The Villa is open to tour 12 to 3 Saturday and Sunday.

The trails leading up from the parking lot at the base of the tasting room at the Bart Park vineyard property are just what the doctor ordered, when it comes to working off all of the great food and wine in Sonoma Valley. We had exclusively hiked the overlook pass behind the Sonoma graveyard for years before we heard that the Bart Park trails were just a little more challenging. The surrounding area is beautiful and the paths are clear and easily followed. There were a couple of places where we needed to grab the hand rail or use a well placed hand on the ground to traverse over steeper ground. Depending on your speed and direction you can go for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Barholomew Park is a private set-aside forest for public use - with nature trails above a picnic area next to a winery. It really is the trifecta of "The Good Life", since you can enjoy (your own) wine and a meal or snack in the well groomed picnic areas, visit the winery AND walk through natural redwood forest footpaths up to some vista areas, enjoying the calm and beauty. Most of the trails are shady, so this can be accomplished year-round. The town of Sonoma is very lucky to have this jewel within their community.

Small, but lovely, organic winery in the heart of Sonoma. Several interesting wines and friendly tasting room staff. Each wine was accompanied by an informative tasting notes sheet.

We stumbled upon it, following google to a non-existent ‘Vineyard Lane National Reserve.” We found instead an entire day at the JUST REOPENED Bartholomew Park/Vineyard/Foundation. There was friendly hosts, a long and interesting hike, an art Gallery, OUTDOOR (or indoor) wine tasting and a picnic.
On our arrival we immediately ran into Anna, the foundation director, who told us some of the history of the place - the whole area a get away for
'wayward women.' A hospital that began, in part, to birth babies of these women, and others in the community. We toured the art gallery and were given a hiking map.
Our hike was up Grape Stomp Trail and down Angels Flight. About 2 miles up and down, 2 hrs of wandering, forest bathing- marveling at what fire destroyed, what it never touched and new life all around. The miracle of the dam that survived to keep bringing water to the vineyard. It was quite steep in places and challenging - but worth it. Still, next time we'll take the horseback option!
Then a $15. Wine tasting - Hiking boots welcome in the tasting room! (although lots of people were dressed up too). There were three choices (of 4) we both loved - we bought 2 bottle and had a picnic (we had packed one in our car) on the beautiful grounds. Lots of picnic tables in shade or sunshine, plenty of room for kids to run around.
On our way home we stopped by Sonoma's Best Wine Merchant, completing a really wonderful day.

Great park like setting for a ride and some winery touring. Located NE of Sonoma village on the hill. Worth a stop.
