Nice small fully packed local Tuolumne County Veterans Museum.

Fine old building directly across from the Courthouse park on Washington St in downtown Sonora. Packed to the gills with local military items. Many books and information.

Unfortunately we got there with only 10 minutes left until they closed (at 2pm on weekdays), but it was fortunate that the docent was very accommodating and let us stay for a few extra minutes. The museum is free, but donations are welcomed. My husband and his brother are former service members of the British Army, serving in N. Ireland... More

We stopped by, not really being buffs of War or Military and came away with a lot of great historical knowledge of the local veterans and the military history in the Sonora area and also during the gold rush years. The docent explained many of the artifacts and was part of a family with rich history in the area. Well... More

I took a tour of the Veteran's Museum in downtown Sonora and was oh so glad I did. The history amassed in this small museum is amazing. The gentleman that gave my tour was a Vet himself. He was friendly, knowledgeable and I would highly recommend visiting if you have a chance.

Makes you proud to be an American - great stories of locals who have served, plus interesting historical info.

The veterans museum in Sonora, on Washington street maybe small by some standards but it is full of donated items from veterans in the community of Sonora. Each Veteran service organization of Sonora has on display all the conflicts since WWII. A must see museum.

This is one of the BEST museums we've been to. Please take your children and young adults. Educate them to the real world. They are NOT learning history in school, nor are they being taken on field trips to these museums. This is a wonderful place to learn American history. Talk to the man there, he's full of knowledge.

Today I have visited the cute town of Sonora, CA and by random I have discovered this small but lovingly designed museum. The exhibition is very interesting and impressive. As I am visiting from Germany, the WW2 dedicated part was the most interesting for me. I had a nice talk with the lady on duty. The admission is free. If... More

we finally made it to this museum when it was open and we enjoyed it very much, it is definitively not for kids as the space is limited but if you have the patience to look carefully at all the items you will and you truly enjoy it then you will have a great time
