Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The museum is free. Full of history of the area. Very informative. It is two stories but there is an elevator so very accessible. There is a children’s play area on the second floor. Well laid out local museum. A little shop as well.

This small museum offers information on the Native Americans who preceeded the local founders of Temecula, the Vail Ranch era, and Earl Stanley Gardner. There are also traveling exhibits to see. The price is VERY modest, and they have a nice gift shop. Plan on an hour to see everything.

The charge to enter the museum is a donation - I think they suggest $5 but you can put in anything you like - or nothing. It's basically the history of the area, which is quite interesting and a quilt show was on display also. The gift shop is cute and we did make a few purchases for the granddaughters..as well as a christmas souvenir ornament for ourselves.

Small in size but Big on information. Lots of interesting facts about Temecula and Western times also. It lost the kids attention quickly but the adults liked it.

I have been to this museum several times as it has revolving exhibitions. If you want to know the history of your Temecula City go here. The staff are super friendly and knowledgable. The have an Earle Stanley Gardner area upstairs and recently had numerous mementos on display that had belonged to his Secretary. There is a small donation requested to view the material.

While in Old Town Temecula, we happened upon the local museum. It’s a nice slice of town history with some fun local lore. It’s a quick visit, so definitely squeeze that I to our day.

I enjoyed a solo walk through the museum. I liked the local artifacts from area families and ranches. I'd like to see more donations of area history that all might enjoy and learn from it.
As a history aficionado I'd be willing to make a few temporary loans of artifacts but not an outright donation as I'd always be worried 3 pieces of similar vintage might become 2, or 1, to make ends meet.
It's always bothered me the way museums sell artifacts to benefit their budget.

We are so glad you enjoyed the museum. We would love to have artifacts, especially those that are specific to the history of the Temecula Valley. We would be happy to discuss a short or long term loan with you, or even a donation. As a City of Temecula funded facility, it is our policy never to sell our artifacts accepted for our collections, so there is no worry about that. Our paperwork can specify any terms of a loan or donation that are acceptable to you.
Please feel free to contact us at 951-694-6450! Thanks.

Having passed this place many times and not been willing to pay for what appeared to be a very small museum, I finally decided to take a peek. It's free...a donation box near the entrance was not a high pressure thing. Taking the time to read the displays about the history of the native Americans was my highlight and made the trip worthwhile. The upstairs had a couple nuggets of historical interest, but don't get your hopes up. The second floor is mainly for kids.
The parking lot immediately next to the museum (if you follow the signs) is a small single row of side-by-side spots. The first two spots near the entrance were filled with what appeared to be government vehicles with trailers attached making the entrance very narrow and unsafe if you don't notice the black trailers (blend with the surface) attached to the vehicles. If you opt to park such that you'll walk through the community playground/park to go inside, you'll be greeted by a platoon of homeless filling the sidewalks and blocking any attempt of taking a nice distance photo. I'm surprised that this area, comprising a government building, a community chapel, and city park and museum isn't better managed for the welfare and enjoyment of the taxpayer/donors.

Thank you for your review. The City of Temecula is extremely proud of our History Museum, we value all opinions and appreciate the input. Proudly, we offer lectures, kids programs and revolving exhibits. We understand parking can be challenging at times as Old Town Temecula continues to flourish with guests. Unfortunately, your visit was marred with landscaping day. We also, like many cities around the nation have our share of homeless and those less fortunate. Temecula prides itself in caring for all our citizens, but the homeless population can be complex. In Temecula, we work very closely with local non-profits to provide basic needs as well as education/rehabilitation/counseling as needed. Being homeless is not illegal; we take the law seriously and our local police department provides enforcement when needed. Again, we appreciate the input and look forward to your next visit.
