A Place for a Hike
Jun 2020
This is a large open space that affords terrific views of the Bay and marvelous Marin. This is a great place for an easy hike and still in the urban area.

Nice hike right outside of SF with views
Oct 2019 • Couples
My partner and I stumbled upon this lovely hike when we were exploring Tiburon. The hike was fairly easy and the church is stunning. I would have given this area a higher rating if the chapel had been open and there was parking. We had to park in the neighborhood a bit away from the start of the hike. Once you get to the top of the hill, you have great views of SF and the surrounding bay. Worth the visit!

Tiburon's treasure!
May 2018 • Family
Marin County is justly famous for its natural beauty carefully preserved from over-development over the last 50 years. Tiburon's natural treasure is Old St Hilary's Open Space--122 acres of open land at the end of the Tiburon peninsula with sweeping, stunning 360 degree views of San Francisco, the Bay, Marin Headlands and so much more.
It's a short hike up from the ferry dock downtown. Once you reach the top, you are well rewarded. The afternoon winds can bring cool air, a refreshing treat after your climb.

Great view, good entry for a walk
Feb 2018 • Couples
We were heading out and needed a stretch before we left...and it was on the list so a shirt drive, would be a steep walk. Up the hill we parked and walked. I see from the map that like much of Marin this would be a great entry to a much longer hike...beautiful views!

Old St.Hilary up the hill
Sep 2016
The little chapel of Laura Ingalls come to mind when i first saw the church. Perched up in the open space above the hills of mansions and multi million dollar homes, somehow made this little church even more dignified in its simple white facade. Popular among bay area wedding couples, the church provides the sweeping view of San Francisco Bay with Golden Gate Bridge. The hike is a pleasant one, would have been better if we didn't have to yield to cars every now and then from the lack of trail to reach the peak, But it's worth the climb. It was one of my favourite local getaway from the city (of San Francisco). There are two ways of getting there by public transportation, by ferry or by commuter bus. But both services ends around 7 pm, so make sure you look up the time table. It's a long way to walk back to the nearest town, and hotels usually fully booked around weekends. Last visit was September 2015

Best scenic views on a clear day
Apr 2017 • Friends
We had a group of friends who gathered at a home in Tiburon. Although most of us are nearing 70 years old, we thought this up and down short walk was the highlight of the day. It was a spectacular day in San Francisco and the photos from this hike: of the north bay, the City, and the Golden Gate were the best. The trail is a bit slippery with gravel but if you keep to walking on the grassy vegetation you have better traction. Good walk for dog owners too!

Pleasurable
Sep 2016 • Friends
I head up this way all the time. I'm putting September 2016 down but I've been hiking this open space for 3 years. It's terrific. The view changes all the time from fog to sun, to ships slowly moving across the bay and out the Golden Gate.

Lives up to its name
Oct 2015 • Couples
It takes some work to get to this park, and that probably helps it be such an unspoiled, peaceful place (along with a reasonable parking fee). It features a beautiful rolling green lawn that gently slopes down to a fishing pier. At the top are plenty of maintained picnic tables and clean restrooms. Plenty of beautiful trees and shade as well. The perfect spot for a picnic.
