Better than expected

This was an absolutely amazing experience for my girlfriend and I. We had never been to a hot springs. During these tough covid times this is exactly what we needed. We got into our room and everything was very clean. No tv. No cell phone service. Off-grid. We had our private bath had our private bath house all to ourselves. The water was very hot and relaxing. We even managed to make use of the cold pool. Time went by very slowly. Our 2 night stay felt much longer. The tub size was perfect for my girlfriend and I to share. Luckily because of covid they reduced their capacity so we basically has the place to ourselves. It is a bit pricey but totally worth it. $500 for the 2 nights. We will be back. This place is heaven.

Unable to lock doors and creepy room experience
Sep 2019
The best part about the faiclities was the options to use private tubs. The grounds were also beautiful. The kitchen is tiny and the power went out on 4th of July weekend, when we visited in 2019 (I could only choose Sept 2019 below). It was overwhelming to make food amongst all the other guests and the refrigerator going out made it even more chaotic.

You are not able to lock your cabin doors, so that put us on edge because no one can really guarantee that your possessions won't be stolen.

What was especially weird was the fact that my partner and I had load scraping all along the walls, banging sounds, and items moving across the room. It was terrifying and neither of us have experienced it before. My partner is the most rational person that doesn't really believe in ghosts, but even he was freaked out. We had checked outside and could not come up with a reasonable explanation for what was happening. It kept him up most of the two nights we were there. The first night was just scraping and banging, so we brushed it off as maybe old pipes or something. But the second night when things were moving across the room and there was a dense heavy vibe there, we became more freaked out. I would not stay here again. I recommend Harbin Hot Springs, where we have never experienced creepy events and where you are able to lock your rooms when you leave them for the day.

Beautiful, Peaceful Retreat

Clean, quiet, calm, lovely. The lush gardens are beautiful and welcoming, with many places to sit and relax. Bathrooms and pools were always clean and well-maintained.

Relaxing Escape
Apr 2019
Orr Hot Springs is a lovely destination in and of itself. It is an historic hot spring spa and maintains a connection to times gone by. They have done a lot of work to update the facility and beautify the gardens while keeping the old timey and hippie vibe. I recently stayed for three days and enjoyed a very relaxing retreat. I booked mid-week so it was probably more low key than a weekend. However, there are many baths, stream room , sauna, pools to enjoy, so even when fully booked it does not feel crowded. This is clothing optional, so if you are not ok with nudity around others, this place is not for you. That said, they strictly enforce the no creep factor rules and everyone is very respectful and decent. The baths, saunas, showers and walkways are cleaned daily and the pool is cleaned weekly. I loved taking saunas and swimming in the fresh water cold pool. It was fun to meet new friends in the lodge while listening to live music in the evenings. There is a communal kitchen with cookware and other basics. You do need to bring food and other supplies with you as there is not store nearby. The staff is welcoming and helpful but also respect your need for privacy. I would highly recommend Orr Hot Springs if you need a quiet get away, literally away from it all. Unplug, unwind and renew.

Predatory
Jan 2019 • Couples
Orr Hot Springs has enjoyed predatory pricing ever since Harbin Hot Springs burned down a few years ago. Because they think they're the only game in town, Orr is pretty damn high on itself. But the soaking pools are dirty, the communal kitchen is crowded, and the staff is rude. Try Wilbur Hot Springs instead.

Gorgeous Place
Oct 2018 • Friends
This place was perfect for what we wanted. It is off the grid, but not a long drive from SF. We drove up the coast highway and stayed a few days in Jenner, then made our way over the mountains to Orr. After two relaxing days in the springs, we made an easy trip back to SFO. The place is perfect. The springs were clean and beautiful, with exceptional gardens all around. We rented a cabin, and so cooked our own food there, and didn't have a change to use the communal kitchen.

One of the best hot springs in California
Jul 2018 • Friends
I just went for the second time ever this past weekend. It's nestled in a forested area at the base of some grassy hills. I've been to 22 hot springs locations in the Western U.S., and this one of my top 3 favorites. The mineral-rich water is very nice. The grounds and facilities are well kept and lovely to stay at. I wish the coolest of the warm pools was larger since people sort of wait their turn to use it and you can't just stay in all day unless you want to aggravate people. None of the hot/warm pools are large. The big pool is unheated and good for swimming when it is hot.

Wilbur Hot Springs is in an idyllic setting, but the water was the most acrid smelling of all the hot springs I've been to. It smells like ammonia and crude oil or gas to me. I don't mind sulphury water at all, but that was in a league of its own.

If you want a proverbial California hot springs experience, try Orr Hot Springs or Sierra Hot Springs. Vichy is interesting, but the water is unheated and the bath tubs have a lot of mineral discoloration. It's interesting to try once, but it is not a hot springs. It's a historical location, so that is the main draw.

Nice Place to Get Away.
Apr 2018 • Couples
We enjoyed our time at the Orr Hot Springs. Leave all your worries at the door and enjoy a relaxing, restful time while soaking in the springs. We spent the day but there is overnight lodging available. There is also a full communal kitchen for preparing meals. You can also arrange for a massage if you wish. The grounds are well kept and staff very enjoyable and helpful. We couldn't find a sign outside near the parking so it was a little confusing. If coming from Ukiah, watch for the small parking lot on the left followed by a bigger one on the right a bit further up the road. Park at the small one then walk in and to the left and you will see a sign. Would recommend.

A Mini Getaway
Sep 2017 • Friends
Just a short drive out of Ukiah is a beautiful place, we went to the woods 1 or 2 miles away and then came to relax at Orr Hot Springs. The staff was friendly and welcoming, we enjoyed the hot tubs, pool, saunas (a wet and dry one) and spent an afternoon enjoying relaxing. I recommend coming, have reservations and our favorite thing was the clawfoot bathtubs on the top deck over looking the sky with fresh hot water pouring into them at all times, so comfy, cant wait to come back!
