Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited this place on a whim for something to do on a Thursday evening. The decor was old and tired.
Two drink minimum, bit cheeky after you’ve already paid to get in. Staff walking in and out of audience delivering drinks throughout the show which was off putting.
The comedy wasn’t great, just lots of shouting and “y’kno what I’m saying”; American humour is very different…gave it a go but wasn’t for me so left before the end.

Went to see Kathy Griffin -- see was very funny. But the venue was so poorly run- you would think it was a brand new business for them. Some girl came outside and tried to organize the people waiting into 2 different lines but she was horrible at communicating and it just confused everyone . Then they wouldn't let us in till the person who reserved on her credit card got there and used her card ---- we couldn't get our seperate tixs and go in........ frustrating....... and then there was a video at the beginning of the act and they left the monitors on the whole show and there was a low buzz that was very distracting THE WHOLE SHOW ----- i'm convinced that if you are really stupid you could easliy get a job there. (and probably be running the place very soon). Come on - $20. to get in and the seats were super uncomfortable.... then the nazi drink waitrons ----- not a pleasant night ---- thank god Kathy was good or it would have been a disaster.

I just attended a show at the World Famous Laugh Factory in Hollywood, and it was wonderful. The comedians, even those I didnt know of were hilarious and the atmosphere was rockin'! I would recommend it to tourists or residents, whether you are a die hard comedy fan or not. Here is some general information on the club:
Sunday: African American Night
Monday: Latino Night
Tuesday: 730 Open Mic, 930 Gleib's college comedy
Wednesday: Girls Locker Room (ladies night)
Thursday - Saturday: Continuous Comedy

Dear Laugh Factory, I just wanted to thank you for my horrible night last night. I really loved those horrible seats you assigned to us, despite the fact that we bought tickets a week ago, had a big group, arrived way in advance, and have been there about 10 times before. The chatting and noises of the bar in the back of the club really made all the jokes a lot funnier.
Also, thank you for the your nice manager, who should be easy to recognize: he may be short in stature, but not in bad attitude. I loved him being so rude to us. I knew that I earned a law degree just so that I can hear people like him talk to me in a rude and condescending manner. When asking me to remove my jacket from the space next to me on the bench seat so to PACK the place even more, there are nicer ways to say it than "Are you going to pay for this seat?".
To all - go to the Improv, they are much more respectful. I recommend the one in Irvine, because it is absent of that LA bull.
-Signed, The Laugh Factory is Overrated.

Hi all,I moved to L.A. from HIP Portland, OR and made the mistake of inviting a friend of mine to the Laugh Factory, because their headline said that Norm McDonald and other big-name comics would appear. Turned out, it was the good ole' Hollywood bait-and-switch. later on, in FINE PRINT, you learn that acts are subject to change, at any time, without notice. the comics WE GOT were pathetic. this is coming from a Portland 'hipster.' they quite LITERALLY either A: hadn't got off the couch, in front of the TV for six months at least, or, B: had LITERALLY just ***** their girl(or boy)friends before they rolled out of bed and came (no pun intended) to the show. i'm not making this up, it was evident in their material. the "hoard-em-in, hoard-em-out" (like star tours!) procedure was only redemptive because there's a 2-drink minimum so you drink a couple of WEAK drinks in order to get your buxx going enough to tolerate it. My advice is to STICK WITH BEER! Irony is, I lived at Sunset at Fairfax, which is literally four blocks from there, so I was a local and was treated like a retard. Don't waste your time, go to the COMEDY STORE INSTEAD!!

So we were here on memorial weekend. We bought the tickets on the phone and the girl with the British accent that sold it to us said that we could buy priority tickets and that way we would NOT need to stand in line and would be guaranteed seating. So we bough the PRIORITY SEATING for more money.
Show was meant to start at 10pm and so we promptly got there at 9:25pm as instructed by the staff. We were made to stand outside in the cold for 45 mins inspite of having priority tickets. So I decided to ask The big bully of the doorman outside why were we made to wait when we had priority seating. To which he was like whoever told u that lied to you and he wanted me to further upgrade to the VIP line that also stood outside in the cold for 45 mins!!! Now this is a comedy club..someone needs to inform him that..not a swanky night club in LA. And we prepaid for our tickets. Everyone else in line was also lied to and the crowd was not happy!
Now the show finally starts at 10:25 after we were all let in. Omg I am not old but the seating is a killer..if u have a bad back don't go here!!!!!
So the big act of the night was by ROB SCHNIDER who I am not even sure if he came on that night: we left at 1am while half of the crowd was thinning and he had still not come on! The talents were great but after 2 hrs it does get tiring! Its like they dragged the entire show! I am really not sure what laugh factory was trying to do..kill time cause Mr SCHNIDER was running late, or they could not get the line up of comedians to leave the stage??
They need to fix themselves! They seem to be stuck in the 1980 with the decor, and attitude. Save the talent!! It's not their fault.
I hope it's not that older man between acts running the show cause those jokes are so passé. Please upgrade version!

I've been here several times and always have a good time. This review is really Just a note to the yelpers that the VIP ticket really doesn't do much for you. Its a small venue so all the seats are good seats. It allows 9pm entrance, but the drinks don't apply to your two drink minimum. The food selection is lacking as well. Hummus, Chips and Salsa, Grilled Cheese sandwich ($9), Grilled cheese with turkey ($12). If you go in at 9pm, you will hear the last couple of acts in advance. Since there isn't a monitor upstairs, you wont see anything, but hear everything. While in the VIP waiting area, the waitress came and asked if we wanted anything. We told her to give us a minute to review the menu. She never came back. Once downstairs for the show, we ordered our drinks from the new waitress. 30 min later she comes back with our drinks, (champagne) and it was hot. We were going to give them back, but we didn't see her for another 30mins, so we eventually just drank them. During the show, there was another waitress who I assumed was off duty, she was sitting in the corner near where the comedians come out, with her friend. She talked through the entire show. So loud, I could hear her entire conversation during the show. I'm sure she has heard the acts before, so she wasn't interested, but I was! It was so annoying. Since I couldn't see her name tag, I tried to get a picture but I couldn't get a clear shot. Otherwise I would have posted her face so her manager would know.
Bottomline? I had an out of town guest and didn't want to take a chance missing out on the show. I spent $40 per VIP ticket that I purchased weeks in advance. If you buy them at the door they are $30. You would think it would be the other way around. $30 in advance and $40 at the door? I should have stuck with my regular routine of getting on the guest list and getting in for free. Total waste of $120.00. :(
Comedy Show? A+
Would I come back ? YES
Service? Needs work
VIP tickets? Not worth it.

All around awful place. Expect to get ripped off while listening to idiots spew anti-white hatred onto the audience.
I'm astonished that people are willing to pay for this kind of abuse.

My son picked up last minute tickets when he saw David Spade was trying out some new jokes! Tipped the guy at the door($10) for close up seats. Spade was great but 3 of 4 "newbies" were fantastic gut-splitters as well. 2 drink minimum plus chips and salsa very affordable( 1 1/2 hours)

I was looking for events in LA this weekend on Event Brite and this event definitely popped up as a fun thing to do. My husband and son always watch comedy on YouTube or TV and I knew my husband will be delighted. I had a date with my husband this weekend and I thought this will be the best event to close the night.
I was not disappointed with what I was expecting, all the comedians were really funny, the host Ron G was warm and welcoming. Love his dance moves. Great music too. My husband and I were laughing the whole time, all of the comedians were great. We saw the two actors from The Office(my son’s favorite show), Mindy and BJ leaving from the prior show. I immediately texted my son to let him know, he got really excited. I also texted him the names of the comedians and he knew two of them, RonG and Adam Hunter, but he thought the others were funny too specially the way Teddy Ray laughs.
The icing on the cake was when Michael Blackson showed up, my husband was trilled!!!! he is a fan of him since he acted on the Repo movie. I will defined go back to LA and join the Chocolate Sundae comedy show in the future and bring my son too. We love the atmosphere and kindness of the staff as well.

Is there more than one show a night? Is there a second show at 9:45 PM?
Written 11 October 2019
There were 3 shows the day I went, one @7pm, at 9:45 and at 12am. You can look on Evenbrite or the Chocolate Sunday website the kind of shows they have every Sunday.

I want to visit on Friday night 9:45 pm show. Is it worth getting he VIP tickets for early admittance?

I'd say no, (read my review) or go early and raise the subject with them when they take you upstairs to wait. You could also stand near the stairs (next to toilets) close to the time of your act so you'll be one of the first to go. Either way, the room is small enough to guarantee mostly a good position, save the extra money for the drinks.! Have a great night.

The laugh factory is 18+ but if you buy drinks or use a promotional ticket it's 21+
Enjoy my friend
