It's a fairly short - but very curvy - drive to the top of Flagstaff Mountain. The road to the summit was closed when we were there but even so the overlook along the way offers spectacular views of Boulder and the surrounding area.

Anybody who's ever spent time in Boulder loves Flagstaff Mountain for a quick way to give out-of-towners a "mountain experience." Once you drive to the top there are plenty of little hikes and spectacular views of Boulder.

Vistas all the way to Kansas on a clear day. RIght above Boulder. Drive is a little daunting for a flat-lander but take it slow and you'll do finel. Roads paves and in good shape. Great scenic pull out facing Boulder and East not very...More

I would suggest going during off season or weekdays in the summer. Very popular and crowded on summer weekends.

Beautiful beautiful place. Don't miss the sunset and the views driving up. Everything is great except for the smells from smoking.

My wife and I drove up to see the scenery and WOW. It was so beautiful and peaceful. There are several places to stop to get different views. You can see the whole city of Boulder.

The drive up this mountain is so nice! Plenty of places to pull over and park for stunning views or to take off on a trail! Keep driving up and up! Don't stop. The views just keep getting better!

This was truly an experience!! Remarkable views, in fact a lucky couple was getting married the day we were up at the top. Beware of cyclists on the road, or even the random (and illegal) skate boarder! Some serious switchbacks in the road require attention,...More

The views from Flagstaff are very good, especially along the road and from Artist Viewpoint near the summit and from Panorama Point. The trees obscure much of the view from the Amphitheater near the Nature Center, but you can still see the Denver skyline and...More

I was there a week or so ago and there were just tiny patches of snow here and there. The road up there is very windy and steep in spots, but we didn't have any problem in our rental sedan. Our biggest concern were the... More

Camping isn't allowed in Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks area, which is the area Flagstaff is in. If you do a web search for camping near Flagstaff you can find some nearby (though not easily walkable) places.
