You can take the kids here to check out NCAR and do some learning and then go on a nature hike. I love that this place is minutes from boulder. You can literally take a hike into the flat irons and when you get back to your car/bike. you can be in downtown boulder in about 5-10 minutes.

Our son (27 yrs old) brought us here when we visited Boulder. It was a beautiful day and the view was awesome. The weather interactive activities were fascinating for us all. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Boulder .

I had some time to kill in the area and figured I would check it out. I wasn't disappointed and was glad to learn about our environment and see some of the facts related to global warming.

My family and I have been visiting NCAR for some years now. We enjoy the hike on the trails behind the main building and the exhibits on the latest in climate research. However, we have only recently discovered Mesa Cafeteria, the cafe tucked away in the back of the building, which is open to the public. I decided to write... More

I have visited NCAR several times, but each visit is different because of weather or other major occurrences that have occurred in the world or just our area. The exhibits help us understand wind and tornados. How hail is formed, floods and methods of protecting where we live. The view of Boulder and the entire front range is breathtaking, In... More

There's a 1 hour tour from noon to 1 p.m. Our guide was Tim, and he's excellent - entertaining, informative, and very funny. Because there were lots of people that day, the tour took almost 2 hours, but it was one of the best presentations I've attended. Apart from the tour, the exhibits are interesting, there are video presentations about... More

We went to the museum inside that had a variety of weather displays. Worth going to especially if you have kids. The views from outside in the back of NCAR are very nice and can be revisited at different times of the day to see how the sun and shadow affect the view. Behind NCAR are the Flatirons and in... Boulder is just so very remarkably forturnate to house these stunning houses of research into our very planet and the fabric of interdependent life. NCAR will show you some of this with terrific visual displays. Don't forget to look out the windows! Go up to the cafeteria, and eat lunch reflecting on what you've seen while resting your eye on... The photography and the exhibits are wonderful, fantastic, even. Adults, kids ... a must see for everyone. Up in the front range foothills, the outside view is unforgettable. Bring your camera
