Quandary is easy to get to from the Front Range and Summit County. Som guidebooks and site say this is an "easy" 14er. In our experience, there is no such thing. Quandary is a 12+ mile round trip, with most of that above 12,000 feet....More

Quandary Peak has about 2800 vertical feet of gain over about 3.5 miles. You NEED to start early (6 a.m.!)as conditions can get difficult in turn in the afternoon. The trail marker can be hard to see in the dark so pay attention - it's...More

Quandary Peak (14,265 ft) is one of the easier 14er's you can tackle in Colorado. Access is fairly simple heading south out of Breckenridge, CO and up toward Hoosier Pass. Although this is "easy" for a 14er, don't take that to mean you can just...More

This was my first 14er and it won't be my last! I've done multiple marathons and ultra distance runs and this was right up there in terms of being a physical challenge. I'm not from altitude, though, and that was my primary difficulty. By the...More

This 14er is rated a "1" out of "5", so we thought we should have no problem with the challenge. My husband and I are both marathon runners and pretty active. Being from central Illinois which is mostly flat land, this was definitely a challenge....More

My first 14er in 1997-My Dad's last one. I repeated the experience with my son and friends over the weekend. However it will not be my last 14er. Got to the trailhead at 6:30 and returned by 12:15. Great weather, plenty of Hikers. A little...More

If you are an experienced winter mountaineer and prepared for arctic weather conditions, then yes. (That's not an exaggeration) If you are a tourist I would stay away until the summer months.
