On the edge of Canon City; this 4 mile round trip hike was perfect. After a short steep climb the trail levels out and follows the river upstream for two miles. You'll pass through a few old rail tunnels; hence the name. The views up and down the river valley are splendid. Highly recommend.

great fun for the family. the kids enjoy running and shouting through the tunnels but it wasn't too stressful for anyone who wants to hike it.

From the parking area is an uphill climb along a paved path that will make you huff and puff. Take your time and stick it out. Once you round the corner at the top then it's all easy and you'll be rewarded by walking through three tunnels - the longest more like a cave as it gets pretty dark. Once... More

We finally took friends' advice and walked this trail one sunny afternoon. (We're grateful we brought water.) Spectacular scenery for this hike included the canyon, the river (we saw rafters), the railroad tracks (we saw the Royal Gorge train), three tunnels, and two wooden bridges. Mile markers every quarter-mile encouraged us to keep going the full two-mile distance to the... More

Easy walk after the first little bit of steep incline. Beautiful around every turn and bend. You walk along the Arkansas river way up high. We were lucky enough to see the train leaving and coming back. Took us a couple of hours but we didn't get in any hurry.

Beautiful walk or bike way. It's a lovely way to see the panorama of the west part of the railway, river and city.

Great opportunity to do a hike and saw some sweet tunnels. We wished there would have been a few more tunnels but did not effect our beautiful view of the Arakansaw River.

We found this short 1.5+mile hike on Trip Advisor and sought it out to hike while on a camping trip last week. We arrived there shortly after lunch on a warm 85 degree afternoon. We had our 4 yr old Black Lab with us and packed plenty of water. The trail is very warm and dusty and water is essential.... More

After the first part, the road is level. The tunnels are interesting and there are many benches along the way at perfect spots for taking photos. It was neat to watch the train go by.
