We took a yellow plated public transport to Makale. Hired ojek (motorcycle taxi) for 50,000 to the top of the mountain. They waited.

The statue of Jesus is very tall. His pose is giving value to the amazingly picturesque and expansive valley below. The view is amazing.

There are little shops selling all tourist needs. We got dropped back at the Makale market for a wander. Worth it.

Amazing Makale city view from up above. It's a very nice place that you can visit by car or motorcycle. My husband told me that you can also reach this place via stairs too.
It's about 15-20 minutes car ride from Makale city center. The road going here is newly paved, so it's safer now. Do mind that your trip is going to be up to the hill, so make sure you are a skilled driver.

I really recommend you to go here around sunset time (17:00-18:00 is) because the view is breathtaking. Do watch out for the fog though, it can be quite foggy on a cloudy day, but if you're feeling lucky, you can always wait for a bit in case the fog went away (just like I did).

ps: they're going to built a glass bridge soon just like the one in China but not as long.

This place has the potential to be a good attraction but
- the actual building and interior needs proper refurbishment. Imagine if you can actually dine while watching the 360 view, this would be priceless
- the glass floor qas constantly closed. I assume they dont use proper glass which means only limited people at one time can use this service. The queue gets quite long sometime or on a bad day, you cant even experience this.
-not enough information and direction, so people are coming from all direction and return as they please. It's fine when less crowded but when it does, its just uncomfortable.

Saying that, nice views of the valley below (makale city) and nice Christ statue under a clear blue sky. Good for Instagram and thats it (if you're not a pilgrimage).

This large Jesus statue just appears on a mountaintop off in the distance. Quite unexpected but this is Catholic Tana Toraja after all. The views from the top are amazing, though be warned, the place is still under construction. Some areas with no guardrails, broken tiles and workers welding on the edge. The road to the parking area is modern and well-planned. However, the parking area at the top is a mess with mud, no services, and lots of kiosks here and there (selling chips, drinks and noodles) with really very little organization. There is no fee to enter, at least not yet. Despite these issues, it's worth a visit. The surrounding countryside is stunningly beautiful. When we were there in the late afternoon, the place was jammed with locals and tourists alike.

Located in makale, central of tana toraja this is 'a must visit' place when you are in toraja, on the top of hills you will find the beautiful scenery of makale city and all the highlands surround the city, some part of toraja utara (north toraja) like the highest mountain called sesean could appears if its not cloudy. Would definitely say its worth a visit! Ps : there's a ticket fee for entrance. Its cheap! No worries

There is a statue of Christ in Makale in Tana Toraja on Sulawesi, on top of Buntu Burake hill. It is very new, erected in August 2015 only. It is made of bronze, 40 m tall and is higher than the statue in Rio de Janeiro. When I was there in March 2016 the site was unfinished yet: the road was being built, commercial area around (shops, cafes). We went there without a road, it took us about half an hour from the city to the top, and we did not regret.

Toraja is better now. There are many additional tourist destination, such as Lolai, Buntu Burake Hill and Ollon. This year I went to Toraja on April 2017. My visiting target was Lolai and I wanted to return to Kete'Kesu, but I got suggestion to visit Jesus statue in Buntu Burake Hills. 7.777 stairs have to climb if we want to reach the statue from the front, very challenging, but there is another easier way to reach the statue, from the back side, there is a wide parking area so we can park car not to far from the statue. There is way for disable too. Beautiful scenery stretches upon arrival at Jesus statue. Makale, the capital of Tana Toraja far deep down the hill, and Jesus' hand stretches to bless the city of Makale and its surrounding, bless me, bless the world with God's Love, so great! I love you LORD.

Site is still unfinished. Road is unpaved yet but it is still worthwhile to walk up. You can have a good view of the city.
