Have taken this drive to Victor a few times over the years. It is a beautiful, peaceful drive. But, if you are in a hurry, don't bother. It takes about an hour and a half to go about 14 miles. And it is a challenge...More

Beautiful drive but once on the road and in the canyon there is no way to go but forward for about 26 morning miles. It took us about 2 hrs to go through the canyon and at times the road we were on were only...More

The stories behind the name of this canyon and scenery are very interesting. Enjoyed the Colorado Jeep Company, Canon City, CO tour, especially our guide, Ed!

Our first trip on Phantom Canyon turned out to be quite the adventure some 30 years ago. Someone had scraped off the 3 of the 34 mile sign to Cripple Creek and we thought "how bad could it be ...it's only 4 miles?" We were...More

My Phantom Canyon Ride was actually a few years ago but the date wasn't an option. It was in the late spring and there were shaded areas that were not melted as yet. Being the chicken that I am, I white knuckled the ride but...More

I live in Colorado and this road is one of my favorite places to just get away. No cell service, telephone poles and much of modern day in anyway. A true step back in time and outrageously beautiful scenery. You can even camp back in...More

The road is perfectly safe as long as you use some common sense. Be courteous of others on the road, if you want to take pictures pull over to a designated parking area not in the middle of the road.

Loved this back road drive. Beautiful scenery, a creek to dip your feet in. Some scary spots on the road, but use common sense and its perfectly safe!

We took a 2 week vacation with this drive as one of my destinations as was recommended. We enjoyed our morning at the Royal Gorge and headed to Phantom Canyon Road for an afternoon drive. There had been a police incident and the road was...More

Small unpaved path, with stellar views. So glad though that we were in off season, only had to back up a couple times to let someone pass. The road had plenty of holes and wash outs so make certain you're out before sundown. Well worth...More

I took the drive in August 2017 and didn't see much wildlife at all. Beautiful drive none the less. I would recommend Phantom Canyon.

The road is just a dirt road. The family car will have no difficulty driving up the road - except for the rain. There could be a lot of muddy sections. There are plenty of places to pull to the side and go hiking. No... More
