Stopped there on the way back form Pike's Peak

WE decided to take a short detour and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly store owners. We did not gamble but that seems to be the main attraction in the city.

As I was staying for a few days in Victor, I figured that I would swing over to Cripple Creek for a bit. The town was clean, plenty of casinos (if that's what your interested in), a few touristy stores, and if your really lucky you will catch a glimpse of the wild burros. It was nice to wander around... This was our second time to visit Cripple Creek. The first was with the kids and we did not get to gamble. We love this place, very quiet compared to some of the places to visit in Colorado. We plan on visiting many more times in our life, it is beautiful and we consider it a jewel in the mountains.

Overall the casinos are always fun! However the town doesn't seem to take kind to outsiders. It is almost creepy since this is 2016 and America has changed so much! It would be nice to see the locals have friendly smiles. I notice most of them glaring at you as you walk by them, I felt as if it may... More

Took a day trip to cripple creek knowing it was mainly a gambling town. Beautiful drive from woodland park. If we visit again we'll definitely book a one-night stay at one of the casinos so we can drink and gamble more! The "crowd" was much older on a Thursday afternoon.. can't help but wonder if things ever pick up around... More

We drove up from Colorado Springs for an afternoon drive. The Aspen were nearly through but the views are magnificent. The mining museum we went to was free. They have done a great job of explaining the gold mining. Good hands on. We wish we had more time to explore the 3 floors. Don't miss the train layout on lower... More

There is way too much to see and do in this Historical District. Great, fun casinos with great meal deals and plenty of 24/7 gambling if you have a bit of expendable income. But do not miss out on the historical aspects as well, the red light district, the local choo-choo train experience, the mine tours, the local Teller County... More

The town was very charming and offered great views both during the drive to get there and in town. The town has numerous restaurants and casinos. It's very clean and still looks like an old mining town. Great place to spend an afternoon. It's also where the root beer float was invented. What more could you ask for?

As we approached the town, it was a magnificent view of an old beautiful place, however the closer we got, it started to look like a historic town with nothing to do but go on a train ride (Not worth it) and visit the historic museum.. It is a shamed that such great history is turned into a gambling town... More
