About
This antique-filled Victorian house was the home of Margaret "Molly" Brown, not only a famous survivor of the Titanic, but so much more. Enjoy our 2022 summer exhibit, "Heroine of the Titanic" available to all guests. Explore on your own or join us for a guided tour. Entry to the Museum is every 20 minutes throughout the day. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase tickets in advance since we often sell out and hate to turn people away.

- Susie Snowflake154 contributionsInteresting in So Many WaysThe self tour was the only one available to us. Guided tours are not very frequent but are on a schedule so booking well in advance may be needed. There was lots and lots of information available at each room, but visitors can print info in advance to get acquainted with the home and the individuals who made it their home. I didn't know anything about Molly Brown previously, but she was definitely a character and a busy woman ahead of her time. Marriage gave her the boost she needed to live her dreams as she was not born into wealth. A very interesting personal story is part of this display of furnishings and architecture. Try not to miss this if you visit Denver. One caveat to keep in mind is that there is no parking specific for this museum. You will need to find a space on the street in front of it or around the block. Give yourself extra time for parking because it is a busy area.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 October 2023
- MtvetJackson Hole, Wyoming25 contributionsA worthwhile experience while in DenverFun and informative experience. The interior has been thoughtfully reconstructed to provide a feel for what life must have been like during Molly Brown's era. Lots of interesting tidbits about her life before and after earning the moniker "The Unsinkable Molly Brown."Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023
- LuvtoSafariLos Angeles, California830 contributionsUnique Life of Titanic Survivor who was a woman ahead of her timesGreat museum had a lot of history of Denver and mining, along with Molly Brown (a Titanic survivor). Allow 45 mins to 1 hour for self guided tour. Location: Downtown Denver. Parking: Street parking only. Free. We were lucky and found a spot right out front. Museum: The house is well restored and you can visit 2 stories of the house. Lots of details about Molly Brown’s life, history and family. She grew up poor before her husband became rich. So she was a very progressive woman, promoted social justice and Women’s suffrage. An intelligent, educated woman and a prolific writer. Truly unique woman ahead of her time. There is a small Titanic exhibit upstairs. The basement has been turned into a history of Denver mini education area and a video about Molly and Denver were excellent. We enjoyed it a lot and a great deal for $16 adult entry fee.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 November 2023
- Aaron ShelbyAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates469 contributionsAn Informative Visit! My Mom and I stopped in for a tour and learned about Molly Brown and her life's journey. Yes she was a guest on the Titanic, but she was also a champion of local life and development in Denver. The house is well preserved with artifacts from her time spent in the house while telling her story. We enjoyed learning about her activism in the local communities and the effects of it today. If you are a history buff, or just looking to learn a little more about one person's life in Denver, check out the Molly Brown house!Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 November 2023

You can opt for a self guided tour or tour guide. We opted for self guided. There was lots of information of Molly Brown and her family. It was great to see and feel like it had been left just as she had left it. Very much worth a visit. The staff were friendly and helpful.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 December 2023

- Nicole B19 contributionsWe owe it all to Ornella!!I want to take this opportunity to say the museum is fantastic and I learned so much about Margaret "Molly" Brown, but the BEST part of our time there was our beautiful and kind tour guide, Ornella. My Mother is hearing impaired and Ornella personally took my Mother & I on a tour of the house so my Mom could learn and enjoy too. She was so patient and sweet. She made our day so magical. We will never forget her kindness.Thank you so much for your kind review about Ornella! We love our tour guides and are so happy we were able to give you a wonderful experience. - Colkoala22 contributionsGlad I went. I learned new things. The staff at the museum were very knowledgeable and friendly and had many interesting stories about the Brown family and the contents of the house. Not all of the furnishings in the house actually belonged to the Brown family, but they are period appropriate. I thought I knew about Molly Brown, but I learned many things I didn't know.Hi There! Thank you so much for taking time to leave us a review. We are so glad you learned about Margaret and got to hear some wonderful stories about the family! - Elana LSausalito, California152 contributionsMust-See Historical Site in Denver! This was an amazing experience to learn about one of the most famous residents in Denver, the unsinkable Margaret “Molly” Brown. Her house was full of history and it was fun to see where she raised all of her money for so many philanthropic causes. Make sure you take a guided tour. It’s like $2 more than the self paced tour and you get to ask all of your questions. Takes an hour and close to everything downtown.Hi Elana! Thank you so much for taking some time to leave us a review, we greatly appreciate it. - Marlee McCormickDallas, Texas71 contributionsDenver with the FamReally enjoyed seeing this great old house and learning about the history behind it and the Molly Brown family. Enjoyed seeing the original old books in the library. Fun if you’re looking for something to do in Denver, but definitely don’t go when it’s hot outside because the house is not air-conditioned.Hey There! We are so happy you chose to visit us and we are so sorry about the lack of AC. We are a historic home and staying true to the 1910s fashion, we don't have cooling but do our best use fans and circulate air. We are glad that the heatwave didn't stop you from coming and hope to see you back on a cooler day when the house isn't too hot!Written 20 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 July 2024

As a huge Titanic history buff, I was originally interested in seeing the Molly Brown House because of her connection to the ship. However, we learned a lot of other fascinating things about her family, her life and the causes that were important to her. Although the items in the house were not original, they were still of the time period, and the house itself is absolutely gorgeous...the woodwork and stained glass were reason enough to check it out!

I wanted to go inside but the others with me did not want to if there was a fee and it was too hot for them to wait outside. But stopping to see this building is worthwhile. It's of a type of construction no longer generally practiced, and it is hard to imagine this building not standing strong for centuries to come.
It was fun to fantasize for a minute about living there and all of the gorgeous potted plants I would have on the grand porches... and how Molly must have enjoyed it so much.

This showed up on a quick search while trying to figure out something to do before the flight home ... and it was well worth the brief detour on the way to the airport.
The house is well preserved and nicely set up. There were several folks ready to answer questions and I must say I learned quite a few things about Margaret Brown that I did not know ... or that the movie "Titanic" got wrong.
Please remember that in the time of COVID this place requires reservations and only allows eight (8) visitors every 20 minutes.

They did an excellent job with social distancing, there were only 5 people (including us) on the tour. The app was a wonderful resource, plus the docents inside are happy to provide more context and details. Ask about the wallpaper! We had plenty of time to enjoy all of the rooms and read everything about the exhibits. The gift shop is excellent! Parking is a little rough, so allow plenty of time to find a spot.

Staying in downtown Denver noticed the historic Molly Brown house on Google maps and decided I had to see it. They have discounts for students military seniors and children I brought an active military and student with me. Read the history of the home sadly it was auctioned off during the depression and most of the original furnishings were sold off many of them have been collected over the years the Denver historical society has done a beautiful job putting it back together. According to the information most of the doors hardware and trim are original and lots of the furniture has been brought back to the home.

We took our two kids, ages 9 and 11, as a field trip for their homeschooling. We watched a video at home before going to the museum which helped make connections during the audio tour. The audio tour is fantastic and kept us all interested in our surroundings throughout. The gal working in the carriage house was wonderful and knowledgeable and answered lots of our questions. I wish I could remember her name because she was a gem.

You need to have tickets in advance, but you can buy right on-line with your phone as you approach. There are usually tickets available. It's very nicely preserved inside and docents are available to answer questions. I think she actually lived here only about 10 to 11 years.

I have visited Denver several times in the last two years the Home was closed due to Covid, so finally happy to be able to tour and learn more about her family and legacy. Our tour guide was incredible--she has been affiliated with the museum since it opened (!) and made Margaret's accomplishments come to life. Also the architectural features of the home were interesting. We had been to the Titanic Museum in Belfast and appreciated her personal history of that time as well. There is an educator's discount if you are a teacher, too!

The Margaret Brown house is set up very much as it was when the Brown family lived in it. The museum has acquired back many things that were sold off in the 1930’s. The best part of the visit for me was the wonderful tour guides recreation of the lives of the family and of Margaret Brown in particular. She was also good at connecting to other events in Denver and Colorado during that period. I highly recommend a visit to the house.

Afternoon Tea May 8, 2022
Is it possible that the Molly Brown House Museum will be resuming afternoon tea in May? If so, how do I order tickets? Specifically for 5/8/22. Thank you.

Thanks for your patience! We offered our very first teas since the start of the pandemic for this past Mother's Day Weekend. We only offer teas as special events. We don't anticipate having more teas in 2022 until the holidays.

Is there an elevator or do you have to do stairs? Thanks
Written 9 June 2019
Thank you for the question. We have a lift that allows folks with mobility issues to enter the house and tour the main floor. The lift also lowers down to our exhibit area and accessible restrooms. Unfortunately, it does not travel to the upper floors of the house, but we do have a video for folks to watch if they cannot climb to stairs to the upper levels. I hope that this information helps!

You can take the free 16th Street shuttle bus most of the way. It will be 5 or 6 blocks after that, but the park in front of the State Capital is interesting and nice.

Is there anyway to purchase tour tickets in advance, or to make reservations? I've emailed them via their website but never received a response. This is for a family of four, not a large group. Thanks.

I would get down town early, go get tickets for the US Mint tour, then go to the Molly Brown house, which is only a short distance (many people walk it) and get tickets for that tour. If you have a long wait in between the two tours, go walk the grounds of the capital building or get a bite to eat in one of the MANY cafes in the area.

Is it possible to tour the Molly Brown without buying the whole tour?
Written 30 January 2016
You can look around the grounds and go to the bookstore without buying a tour ticket. If you have the time, it is worth the price to go on the tour. You cannot get into the house at all without the ticket. The tour actually starts on the front porch and the tour guide will take your ticket then.
