There is not a great guide pointing out all the works of art etc. So take a tour which is about 30 minutes Unfortunately various interest groups are allowed to set up tacky displays that block some fantastic and historic works of art -- stop by the Governor's Office and see the tacky horse on display

I have attended this tour twice with my kids - we all love it. Be sure to take the stairs to the top - what an amazing view.

Stopped by the state capitol and took the free tour of the building which includes a good history of the building along with going to the legislative chamber and up in the tower. Nice views the day we went and a good education for a non-native Coloradan.

This is a great place to take kids. The capital has a lot of history and great architecture. I recommend going up into the dome, because you also get to see the attic and other behind the scenes areas. Check out Father Dyer stained glass window, and other figures in Colorado history, as you visit the dome.

After reading the guide book in our room our younger son wanted to visit. He was fascinated with the story of the Gold Rush and the building's dome covered in gold. There is some construction being done to the building but we were still able to get good pics

The tour of the state capital is fantastic. What a beautiful building! And the view from the dome (a lot of steps) is unbelievable. Do not miss this building. You even get a civics lesson in how government unions waste tax dollars--two people are employed full time to polish the brass when a simple coat of lacquer would save all... More

We took a self guided tour of the building and were amazed at the beauty and grandeur. The stone was amazing and the wall of past presidents was fun to see.

Amazing free tour of the Colorado state capitol. Learn about where the materials come from, how legislation is passed, where the old CO Supreme court was help.

Before wandering into 16th St Mall and LoDo just pass by Civic Center Park to get a good view of the Capitol. Now is a better time to photograph than before as the scaffolding is at least off from the dome. It always makes for good people watching if there is a protest taking place at the Capitol when you... This is truly a beautiful capital building for an awesome state. Even though it was closed over the holidays we were able to walk around. Very impressive. I also appreciated seeing the organizations feeding the homeless on the lawn outside. Touching.
