The canvas was his ally. The paint and the trowel were his weapons. And the Art World was his enemy. Discover an American Master at the Clyfford Still Museum, home to the world's most intact public collection of a major American artist. From October 14, 2016 to January 15, 2017, the Clyfford Still Museum will display more than 260 of Clyfford Still's works on paper in the Museum's largest exhibition to date. With very few exceptions, paintings will not be on view in the Museum during this time.

It was a snowy morning with few people at the museum. Staff was helpful. The video about Clifford Still was informative and interesting as were the photos along one gallery wall. The architecture is unusual and adds to the art.

The museum is dedicated to only Clifford Still and has all his lives work. The museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting his work. I was impressed with the depth of his work and the soul of the artist is evident throughout this tasteful museum. I also had the free tour when I visited and the knowledge and passion that... More

You may not think a museum with a single expressionist painter is your "thing" but don't miss this museum designed for the artists' work. It is interesting, profound, and deeply engaging. It's a must do whenever I have guests. Plus, they have wonderful Friday nights for couples including outdoor music in the summer. It's worth the approximately $15 admission and... More

I’ve never been much for abstract expressionism. A lot of abstract art leaves me cold, but there was something about the art of Clyfford Still that intrigued me and made me want to see his museum. So, after spending the best part of a day at the DAM, and a very pleasant late lunch at Palettes (both reviewed separately) my... More

Loved visiting this stunning museum which was open late on the last Friday evening of the month. Handsome brutalist architecture is the setting for this museum showing the work of this one great artist. A must for visitors to Denver.

I have always liked the Abstract Expressionists, so I was surprised that I didn't know Clyfford Still. This museum was a great introduction to one of the more interesting and significant abstract expressionists. I was very happy that I took the opportunity to visit. I heartedly recommend it to other art lovers.

Nice museum near the Art Museum. Learn about an impressionist artist not as well known as the heavy hitters . The works on paper was the show I saw and was not "wow". Was interest in his life and women working at the desk were very helpful and knowledgeable

I stumbled across this museum in my search for the Denver art museum. I happen to like abstract expressionist artists and Clyfford Still was one of the main artists.

This is a thoughtfully presented collection of Clyfford Still's works and goes into great detail about his life and chronology through videos, text placards and tours. I found this exhibition to be very well done and well worth visiting.

This museum is all about Clyfford Still. He was an under appreciated 20th century abstract expressionist artist because he chose to marginalize his art and not participate in the art scene. Upon his death in 1980 he willed his collection to an American city that would create a museum to display it. Fortunately the city of Denver stepped up and... More
