We hiked part of this trail this morning. We did not make it all the way around the loop but hiked 2 miles up and cut back on one of the other trails. This hike is not for the super beginner hiker or anyone out of shape. It is a very steep trail going up but if you are willing... More

This trail starts right out of the northwest end of town - the complete loop runs 5.5 miles and you'll gain 1,500' of vertical to the top at 8,000'. It's a regular, moderate pitch that's suitable for just about everyone. You can shorten the hike with an out and back anywhere you like - or check the posted maps for... More

Great views and not too difficult despite elevation gains. I really liked that there were trail maps at several trail junctions. Hard to get lost. It was also easy to change our route plans when there appeared to be a storm quickly approaching on a previously nice day. It was a little disconcerting to come across one deer leg, but... More

It starts out and finishes down a bit of a steep stretch, but once up it's a nice rather flat hike. There are some very beautiful boulders and rock areas. Signage is helpful.

This is a wonderful hike very close to town with great views. I found it to be not very strenuous. It was well signed, which was much appreciated, as I was unfamiliar with the area. Lots of good bouldering in the area. Mountain biking also, but the trail did not look suitable for beginners.

This is definitely suited for mountain biking and the views at the top were incredible. Definitely doable for families, my sister brought my nephew and he did great! The view of Animas lake and turtle valley were great. It also had a nice steady incline the whole way up.

This trail is Easy to Moderate difficulty. When on a morning after a rainstorm and the trail was pretty muddy. This is a good trail takes you fairly close to a steep drop off. Views are good and bountiful. Overall the trail is okay and a great way to get some scenery into your exercise regiment if you are living... More

The complete trail has seven miles. It's a easy way, with a climb in one side . The last view opinar is very Nice, with a view of the valley, the river.

This is a nice hike. It is an aerobic climb to great views. We are brisk hikers and completed the 6 mile loop in just over 2 hours. The counterclockwise route gives you the best footing for the descent. From the 8100' summit, there are wonderful views of Durango and the surrounding valley. It is a great way to start... More

For me (60 and trying to get fit), it wasn't that easy. Seeing someone jog past me on the trail was a little inspiring and degrading. Ha! We hiked up the east side so we could get the great overlook views, but it is steeper than the west trail. We came down the west trail and noticed that it was... More
