Hop aboard a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that travels along the same railroad tracks that miners, cowboys and the early settlers of the Old West used over a hundred years ago. The route winds in and out of canyons and past open wilderness...more

We visited three national parks while in Colorado in addition to taking a round trip on the Durango & Silverton Railway. This just may have been the highlight of the trip. The colors were beautiful and the varied landscape (mountains, ravines, along streams, and through...More

This trip had been a bucket list item for several in our family and it did not disappoint. We had a slightly shorter ride due to the Summer Forest Fire, but it still covered all of the "main attractions" and incredible scenery. Our guides were...More

Loved the train ride! It was a part of our Soaring Tree Top Adventure and very much a highlight of our trip to Durango!

Second time on the Silverton Narrow Gauge rail. This time we booked first class in the open side glass roof car and it was AMAZING. This is a fabulous trip with spectacular scenery. Would do it again.

C W McCall described the journey in song and I finally got to experience for myself. Can’t say more than what he wrote about it. The shiver when you check out the river 400 feet straight down. Anyway. It was a beautiful day and we...More

The coaches have plenty of windows and are enclosed. Problem is the windows don’t even open up to shoulder height. The open air gondola doesn’t present a real challenge as far as temperature is concerned unless it’s very... More
