This was our 2nd ride on the Polar Express (ten years apart). We go early December to avoid huge crowds and pay a little less with Off Peak rates. Much easier to find hotels, too. To get the most out of your experience, the later train the better, watch the movie after the ride, wear pj's, participate, we like sitting... More

You must ride this train - it should be on your bucket list. Be prepared for a long ride; it is slow due to the terrain, but worth it. Dress warm in the fall. Beautiful ride.

We had an amazing time riding the polar express!! My son loved it! I recommend watching the movie or reading the book before hand. I went in not thinking too highly of it. Very impressive! The crew did a great job!

Absolutely stunning views with great winter scenery. The conductors were very friendly and made it a good trip. Would recommend.

Just outstanding and authentic The train ride behind a steam engine, the scenery, experiencing an old mining town, sharing the experience and memory with family. Book ahead - its essential. We were stuck for time (had to double back to Salida that afternoon) so we trained out (regular coach and bus back) which worked well and gave us some time... More

Thoroughly enjoyed riding this authentic train. The scenery is gorgeous all along the way. We rode the train in November so it did not go to Silverton. The ride up the mountain to the Casades was beautiful and relaxing. The employees on the train were very knowledgeable.

My husband and I have been on the train a handful of times. It is definitely pricey but if you take the bus one way and the train the other with plenty of time to spend in Silverton you won't be disappointed! Silver ton is a beautiful town to visit with a great variety of stores, restaurants and sights to... More

Great area with lots to do even though we were there to use the Toyota dealership for a break problem. Lots of restaurants and things to do

October 17, 2016 - Rode train both ways and sat on right side on the way to Silverton. This was recommended. Views were outstanding. Although we were in the San Juan car with excellent narration by Ed, I was able to exit to the rear platform to snap some great pictures. Scenery was spectacular and train movements were nostalgic. And,... More

What an amazing experience. Because we needed ADA access we were in the front car. The bar was 7 cars away which made for a long walk in the moving cars. It was quite the adventure. Luckily the open air car is right next to the bar so we hung out there and kept the drinks flowing. Solid house Bloody... More
