The portion of the Colorado trail, which runs along a crystal clear creek provides for some fairly easy hiking with beautiful scenery along the way. Highly recommended for short or long hikes. It's out and back as opposed to a loop so have an idea before you head out how far/long you want to go so you can gage when... More

Looking for some exercise, we hiked from the trail head near Junction Creek Campground to Gudy's Rest. The first 1.5 miles or so generally follows the creek and is a pretty easy walk through a shaded gulch until you reach the bridge over the creek. If you look up and to your left during this section you can get a... More

We only hiked about a mile and a half up, had to turn back due to storm clouds, but I guess if you live in Durango this Is a good hike. I though it just ok, a walk amongst weedy trees and brush and lot of canine excrement. Some pine type trees further up. OK for some exercise but that's... More

Great place four a bike ride or hike. Can be difficult but worth the trip. Beautiful scenery. Worth the effort. Stop off in Durango for a great dinner.

I've not hiked the entire trail but I have volunteered with the Colorado Trail Foundation to rebuild existing sections of the trail and to build new trail? My most recent contribution was to work on the new Collegiate West route that should be open in another few years. Over several summers, I've also worked on the Cataract Ridge reroute between... The Colorado Trail is convenient town and can easily be reached from 25th St. I have walked the first few miles through beautiful green forested area which parallels a stream. The walk is relatively easy with a few gentle rides and dips. You have to watch out for mtn bikers and their dogs, It is well worth the walk with... More

Accessed from the Junction Creek trailhead, this excursion offers incredible views and a delightful outdoor experience for hikers and mountain bikers. Many enthusiasts take it all the way to Denver!

I walk up there a lot from my house and enjoy the scenery and people. Mountain bikes. People either beginning or conquering their hike. Most just enjoying nature with their family.
