Spent the day at Horsetooth Reservoir and Mountain Range. Beautiful views at both places but be prepared to do some major walking to get to Horsetooth Mountain Peak. The trails are great for both mid level hikers and mountain bikers.

On a very warm day, we had a family hike to Horsetooth Falls (I think). We saw some deer munch on some leaves before retreating to a cave. We carefully stepped around a rattlesnake lounging trail side. Some thunder and lightning helped us finish the...More

I live across the open space ranch( over 30 years) it's a very beautiful area and well marked trails, one trail to Horsethooth rock and another trail to Lory State Park. Plenty of trails for hiking, mountain biking and Horse. Just be on look 👀...More

Just next to Fort Collins is the Horsetooth Mountain Open Space/Horsetooth Reservoir. Easy to moderate hiking and a $6 parking fee (which is good at the South Bay and all trailheads for a 24-hour period) make this a nice way to get nature for hikers/nature...More

Beautiful lake and open recreation area. Pay to park for the day at the self service kiosks in the parking area. Plenty of rangers driving around to make you feel safe. Nice hiking in the area. Great views of Fort Collins. Lake was not crowded...More

Bring lots of water, but a great place to hike. We hiked to the falls and back with our 7 and 9 year old. Not too strenuous of a hike, but also not super easy. Lots of hills and steps, but it a clear wide...More

Took the family here and rented a few paddle boards at the north end of the lake. Had a great time but was glad that we got there early. All of the parking spots filled up quickly. Not much usable shore line around the North...More

We stopped by when we were visiting CSU. I didnt know this was there and was pleasantly surprised. We did not do any water activities, but looked like there was a lot going on.

We went on the Horsetooth Rock trail to catch views overlooking Fort Collins. We managed to find parking at the lot - $6. We were warned by the gatekeeper to take plenty of water because there would be no opportunity on the ~5 mile roundtrip...More

The roads are twisting and up and down. I do wish there were more locations to pull over and look at the vistas. The rangers are very serious about paying for entry on the self pay stations, so do it or pay more. Gorgeous, did...More

Horsetooth Falls Trail - start at the same spot as for the regular Horsetooth hike and maybe a quarter mile in, there is a sign. The trail to the falls veers right and is marked.
