Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were on our way from Steamboat to Denver International and decided to stop here for lunch and a quick tour of this old mining town. Very colorful and interesting turn of the century buildings including an old firehouse and the Hotel de Paris both now museums. A number of quaint shops including a neat Christmas Shoppe and an old trading post. Had a nice lunch at Cooper's as well. A welcome and enjoyable 2 hour respite from the long drive.

A terrific visit to the town. This town is very well kept and a reminder of what a miner's town would have looked like in the 1900's. Original buildings are still up and owners are restoring them very well. A great stop! The backdrop to the town is beautiful. A place where one can find history, good food, drinks and entertainment. A lot to learn in Georgetown. The people in the town are terrific! A place everyone must see!

If you enjoy historic small town America, there is one main Street with circa 1900 buildings surrounded by quaint Victorian homes on rolling streets in a quiet setting. A nice place to take a break if you are traveling on I70 about an hour west of Denver. You could just take a half to one hour break and drive the town, or spend a few hours looking around at the architecture and surrounding landscapes, and then go to The Alpine for one of the best pizzas you may ever have. At $24, not kid’s pizza, but well worth it.
Georgetown is great if you like small town historic America.

This place is one of my wife's favorite location to just get out and walk around. The shops are neat and the entire downtown is on the historic registry so many of the building are old, old, old. Lots of little cafe's and places to grab a bite or drink. If you haven't been you should. Especially the first 2 weeks of December when the whole town is decorated and carolers walk the street.

After a two week stay in Beaver Creek; we stopped in here for awhile, before continuing our two day trek back home.
We had so enjoyed our visits here in 2017, that we wanted to rekindle our memories a bit.
The Visitor's Center is a great place to start; where one can obtain an overview of and historical perspective on the area.
The downtown is a real testament to the local people appreciating and preserving this piece of our nation's story. The architecture is a wonderful step-back in time.
We had the added bonus of arriving on the day the town, unbeknownst to us, was preparing to start a pack-mule race. This was a real treat, and underscored some of the historic attributes of this area.
We hope it's less than 5-6 years before our next revisit here.

On a trip with LS Tours, we made a quick pit stop in Georgetown to see the sights, by recommendation, and we were pleasantly surprised! What a nice, quaint little town just off I70. We went in several shops downtown and everyone was polite and welcoming. It's worth the visit!

My daughter and I love old towns. We have never been to one with the mountain as a backdrop. So beautiful! So cool! The stores are cute although we didn’t buy anything. If you have little people stop by the library for the children’s section. We walked the downtown in 30 mins.

Cool town to spend a day! A real Colorado town that is easy to walk and has a unique REAL Colorado appeal unlike the Disney touristy areas. The Loop Rail is fun and picturesque and the town is easy walking with a few good restaurants and museums.

My wife and I stopped off in Georgetown in the middle of March. Not the most optimal time to see the sites. Many were closed, including the train ride. I can see the possibilities, though.

More importantly, the town's people are simply wonderful. I'm that guy that will start a conversation with anybody. I had the pleasure of speaking with a couple of locals as my wife and I went through some of the businesses. What genuine, kind people. I am so glad we were able to make purchases to help the local economy.

There are many Victorian homes to see, many restaurants (with all different fare) to eat at and many unique stores to shop. There is also a beautiful mountain lake. Once the town opens up for the season, you can add a scenic train ride and some museums.

Georgetown is right on I-70. This is a great place to stop and stretch your legs, if nothing else. Stop off. Have a bite to eat and do a little shopping. You might even see a long horn sheep or two. Well worth your time.
