I highly recommend the bike trail. Several bike rental companies will drop you off at the far end and you simply need to ride back into town. The ride back is primarily downhill and easy to do. The views are spectacular. When I was there...More

We stopped at all the DOT rest areas along this trail this week and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and solitude found on a weekday in September. This route is the only way to get down to the river and enjoy it close up. The scenery...More

We rented bikes (the upright variety; which were fine for this trail; although we are avid cyclists and had considered road bikes, but it was only 14 miles of mostly downhill, and we stopped at Hanging Lake to hike the trail; so didn't need road...More

This is a trail with great views everywhere you look. We did the downhill version (rode up in a van) from Bair Ranch, so it was lots of fun. I will warn you that there's a bit of an uphill climb as you get to...More

This is a beautiful trail through the canyon that took advantage of the highway being built to become the paved trail that it is, with access to highway rest areas along the way. The close to highway thing is the only reason I gave it...More

Is doing the whole trail out and back from Glenwood Springs for a couple in their 50s, or would you suggest being taken out in the shuttle and biking back?

Which direction? East past Hanging Lake Trail yes. It will be predominantly up hill out. Next to a river all the way. You could lock your bikes and do the trail too. South to Aspen is about 80 miles round trip. Probably... More
