AMAZING!

My friends and I came up from Oklahoma for a concert and decided to stop at Mayflower Gulch. It was breathtaking! Especially the views from up high!

From the trailhead near Mile Marker 16 of SH 91, it's about an hour walk up to a fork in the road. One fork takes you toward Atlantic Peak and some interesting mining ruins from the early 20th Century. This is a place to not step on steel or wood lying on the ground that could be a cover of... Loved this hike, not to strenuous and when it opened up there were old cabins. The old buildings lent to great pictures using the old buildings with the mountain as a back drop. My pictures turned out wonderful !!!!!

This is a beautiful trail that eventually leads to a beautiful meadow that has abandoned cabins which we assume are from the mining days. It is a fairly easy hike to the meadow and if you need more the trail leads to a more challenging hike to the summit where you can view Quandary Peak. I believe the talk to... More

Mayflower Gulch is a beautiful dayhike close to Leadville, CO. From forest to alpine meadow to rock bluffs and snow-capped peaks in June. Definitely worth the stop!

The trek up Mayflower Gulch trail was the best part of our off season trip to the Colorado mountains. This was a 4 mile round trip walk through beautiful country on a pretty well-packed snow-covered trail, even at the end of May. On the advice of a seasoned skier we encountered, we did not go off that main trail to... More

The White River National Forest is home to some of the most beautiful mountain vistas to be found anywhere in the United States. The Mountains of Summit County is the location for one of these magnificent places, Mayflower Gulch. Silver and gold were the attraction back in 1900, but now the tourists are hiking in because of the scenery and... More

When you do this hike, you get to think about what it would have been like back during the early mining years. See some buildings, look into some mines. Also, see some scenery. The hike is strenuous at times.

We stopped here on a whim on the way back to Denver from Leadville, and boy are we glad we did! The mining area in a beautiful mountain amphitheatre was stunning enough, but then we took the jeep trail up to the right which led us to the top of Gold Hill. The views here were incredible - the pure... More

from the parking lot you will follow the jeep trail to its end at the old boston mining town. parts of building from the 1800s are still lazing in the valley surrounded by a beautiful cirque of high mountains. usually, there is an abundance of alpine flowers in bloom during june and july. and yes, if you do not have...
