A family-owned and oriented guest ranch nestled high in the pristine wilderness of the San Juan Mountains and just 35 minutes from Durango, CO. Since 1956, Lake Mancos Ranch (now re-named the Majestic Dude Ranch) has been offering our guests a home away from home in the Colorado mountains 35 miles west of Durango. A week-long, all-inclusive dude ranch vacation provides families with a lifetime of memories, whether that means long rides on a mountain trail, guided mountain bike tours, hikes in the neighboring national forest, catching a rainbow trout along the banks of a cool stream, lake or river, or just relaxing by the fire with friends.

VERY KID FRIENDLY PLACE. The horseback riding was terrific. However, the website is definitely misleading. There was no kayaking or atv riding offered the three days I was at the ranch. The archery equipment was broken. The activities catered to children (movies under the stars,...More

We are looking for a place for a family vacation for late summer, 2016. There are 7 adults and 6 children (ages 1 1/2 to 10). None of us is competent at horseback riding. We'd like to learn. The kids' activities look great. Please explain accommodations. We have 3 families with 2 adults and 2 children each plus me (grandmother). I would appreciate info about lodging and cost/lodging. Inclusive? Is it easy to travel to nearby attractions? What is normal length of stay and is there a deal for 5 days or a week? How hard is it to get flights from Durango to London, NC, and Reno? Are there alternative restaurant sites? Thanks.
