This nationally recognized museum is jam packed with 4 floors of exhibits! Some rooms you walk into give a distinct feeling you've gone back in time. Astonishing and authentic. Garner a true taste of Colorado's mining days and genuine life in Ouray from the 1800's....More

This is a rather small museum, but is packed with local history. A fun place to spend an afternoon and very well done for such a small town.

This is a great museum! You can really enhance your visit to any area by learning some of its history. Ouray is FULL of history! We learned all about mining and minerals, famous ranches, a connection to the Hope diamond, and much more in the...More

This once was an old hospital. Now turned into an amazing museum. 3 levels with a great video about the curse of the Hope diamond since it was once owned by a resident of Ouray. An amazing collection of colorful mineral rocks. Including a room...More

We just happened to "stumble" on this museum while walking the town. Shows history, settlement, mining, up to the current day. Great exhibits.

There are so many rooms and items to look at, it was difficult to take it all in during our short visit. Hope to return someday. Extensive mineral collection.

We read the other reviews and they were right - this humble mountain town museum is impressive and quite informative. Set in an old hospital building, there are 3 total floors. Each original hospital room contains a different subject and/or time. You can choose which...More
