Was surprised how many displays in 3 floors. Well done. First floor had good county history. Second had some good examples of past offices - the surgery was very educational. Mining exhibits in basement was highlight

First of all, I thought the $7 admission was a bit pricey. I think $4 would be more reasonable. We went ahead and paid it, then wandered around the museum looking at all the stuff. There is a lot of stuff there! I got a...More

This once was an old hospital. Now turned into an amazing museum. 3 levels with a great video about the curse of the Hope diamond since it was once owned by a resident of Ouray. An amazing collection of colorful mineral rocks. Including a room...More

Kind of an interesting collection of old Ouray related stuff, divided loosely into themed areas covering the use of the house as a hospital, the history of Ouray, and the mining history and process. There are a lot of objects - probably too many. The...More

We visited based on TA reviews and were not disappointed. Set in the old miner's hospital, it's three floors and so many exhibit rooms including a mine simulation in the basement. Don't miss the florescent minerals in the basement. The medical/dental exhibits are sufficiently creepy...More

We just happened to "stumble" on this museum while walking the town. Shows history, settlement, mining, up to the current day. Great exhibits.

There are so many rooms and items to look at, it was difficult to take it all in during our short visit. Hope to return someday. Extensive mineral collection.

We read the other reviews and they were right - this humble mountain town museum is impressive and quite informative. Set in an old hospital building, there are 3 total floors. Each original hospital room contains a different subject and/or time. You can choose which...More

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of exhibits in the three-floor museum and there should be something for anyone interested in the area's colorful history. The museum provides wonderful historical context for every relevant aspect of Ouray: mining, postal history, health care in the...More
