A pretty little church set amongst yew trees of great age. Austen's Mother and sister are buried here, there is a small statue to Jane near the entrance. Jane's Brother Edward's son was curate here and it is a reminder of the role of the...More

Small Victorian church in the grounds of Chawton House on the site of the church frequented by Jane Austen. The original medieval church burned down about 50 years after Jane died with only the chancel surviving. Peaceful and pretty but would be nothing particularly outstanding...More

This church is some way from the Jane Austen house, but its an attractive walk. In the churchyard are the graves of Jane's mother and sister, and there are also memorials to them inside the church. The church was rebuilt in Victorian times so Jane...More

Don't miss the little understated church and graveyard as you exit the pathway from visiting Chawton House. The headstones of Jane Austen's mother and beloved sister Cassandra are there in the graveyard - unadorned, yet simple and powerful. They lived several decades longer after the...More

Situated in the grounds of Chawton House, this church is worth visiting. I found it to be peaceful and holy, a place for quiet reflection. It is worth walking to the graves of Jane's sister and mother, who both had much longer lives than Jane...More

Has a long history but renovations over the years have destroyed anything of historical architectural interest (even their history pamphlet makes this statement). If you are an Austen fan, a must do (you know why) - if not - save you time

You pass the church when visiting Chawton House. A place to visit to find the grave of Jane Austen’s sister and mother. A must to see the inside of the church also to experience a step back in time.
