I visited the museum on Saturday and really enjoyed my visit. I took the bus from Winchester, which took about 40 minutes plus a 7 minute stroll from the bus stop. The staff was very friendly and the ticket gives you free entry for a year. In one of the little outbuildings, that is now the learning centre, you can... More

Having seen Jane's memorial in Winchester Cathedral the day before, we decided a visit to see the house she lived in at Chawton would be worthwhile. We were not disappointed. The house and exhibits were excellent and we were surprised just how many artefacts still exist. All in all whether you are a Jane Austin fan or not, the house... More

It was interesting to see a home from that era and to realise how small they were at the time. Quaint home where Jane, her sister and mother stayed for 8 years.

Second time visiting and again wasn't disappointed. Learned so much not just about Jane but of the rest of her family as well. When we visited they were launching the Writer's Way...which we beloved to be part of the 200 anniversary.

This was such a treat. I had thought that it would be a short visit with not a great deal to see but in fact the presentation and information was so absorbing we stayed a long time. The garden is lovely and we sat there for a while reading up on the background as to how Jane came to be... More

We toured Jane Austen's house for the afternoon. This is not a big house, but it is very well presented and gives the visitor so much information about Jane Austen and her family. It really is a treat. There are very nice gardens attached to the house, also.

Sensitively presented aspects of life of Jane Austen. Piano similar to one Jane Austen owned -can be played by visitors. Helpful guides in some rooms. Interesting introductory film, and goodcshop. Activities for young people, but not really appropriate for small children, as you would expect. Would go again.
