up front - this is not a Castle, it is more of a fortified House!! That said it is hugly interesting, from it's constrtuction and layout to it's contents. the previous owner had a passion for antiquity and this is shown in the Japanese, Egyption and Buddha collections that are hugely interesting. gardens are lovely with a beautiful lake and... Sadly the so called castle is extremely over rated. It was vastly over priced for what you get to see. Unfortunately we did not realise there was a literary festival taking place which took up some of the rooms. Even still it took very little time to tour the building and grounds. There is a nice church to the edge... More

Chiddingstone Castle is really a stately home and a very well kept one. We went on the first day it opened this year which was Sunday 2nd April and had a lovely day. First of all we wanted to look at the restored Egyptian sarcophagus which is around 3,700years old. We were surprised at the difference there was with the... More

Visited this Castle this week and found the surroundings pleasant with the daffodils still quite colourful. The Castle is set in a picturesque area although not very easy to find. It is in the vicinity of Hever Casle. There are a number of Collections to view, Japanese, Egyptian and Buddhist. Save the Japanese till last. The staff were helpful and... More

The castle was closed to visitors but the gardens offered a nice walk on a sunny day. It would be ideal for little children as the paths have little animals etc and the path isn't long ( 20mins) . We enjoyed the first picnic of the year in the sunshine. We could have done with toilet facilities but couldn't locate... More

Thank you for your kind review of your visit to Chiddingstone Castle gardens in March. A really lovely day with carefully curated stalls and lots of lovely items on offer for sale. I felt very Christmassy with mulled wine in hand! The castle itself is stunning and highly recommended for a visit.
