I asked the guy at the front desk about doing the Ditch trail because I heard is was fairly easy and nearby. He gave me a map and then told me the general direction of how to drive to the trailhead. I followed his directions, but ended up at a dead end near a dog kennel or something. I drove... More

There are more miles of trails here than anyone could possibly want - all levels and lengths. Snowmass Village is meticulously maintained and people are very pleasant. You are over 8000' in elevation, so make sure you carry water, layers (it is the Rockies and just like the beach, weather can quickly blow in) and a camera. Keep your eye... More

despite the rain off and on, the trails were well laid out and with trail guides. Beautiful views and the length of the trails are well laid out.

These trails are fine for a family stroll without the need to carry your own oxygen. Bears and bikers are present, so give both a wide birth. Raspberries are ready in August and other various things to forage if you are into that sort of thing. The Nature Trail is one of he easiest to do with kids, and I... More

Hiking was great for very active family like ours. Picking wild strawberries that taste so great was an added bonus!

There are some easy access trails if staying in Snowmass. My favorites are the West Maroon Trail and Rim Trail. Also easy drive to some classics....Maroon Bells - trail to Maroon Pass, Cathedral Lake Trail, American Lake Trail, Ute Trail, Hunters Creek Trail , etc

We went to the Snowmass Maroon Trail this weekend and traveled about 6 miles into Snowmass. The vistas are incredible, the trail is not difficult with many flat portions, and the wildflowers are ablaze with color. You might want to pick up a local's hiking book to make sure you know how to arrive at the trailhead. Be sure to... More

lots of options from super easy to a bit more difficult. Recommend taking the gondola to Elk Camp, and then the chair lift all the way to the top. Amazing views of Maroon Bells from up there. Always a good idea to pack a jacket because it gets much cooler all the way at the top of the mountain. Various... More
