A moderate hike with great views at the top. Also a good place to snowshoe during the winter. One of the many good hikes in the area.

the people i know who live in SSpgs really like this area for either running, hiking, or mtn-biking work-outs. And they bring their dogs. If you can't tolerate dogs, perhaps you shouldn't go outside.

Nothing is more beautiful than Colorado in the fall. We hiked up the mountain, rested and hydrated, then back down. What a beautiful view... and we couldn't help but imagine what it would look like covered in snow in the months to come. What a...More

We loved biking as a family with my sons ages 11 and 14 up Emerald Mountain near the quarry. The views at the top are spectacular. We took the NPR (no pedaling required) trail down.

This whole trail area was extremely sunny. Shade was rare and far between. We started on a road. I strongly recommend staying OFF the roads. Stick to the VERY well marked trails. Good views, but pales compared to the Fish Creek Falls trails.

We started on emerald meadows- our goal was to hike up to Stairway to heaven, but many of the trails higher up were closed due to muddy/wet trails. We sort of weaved around between trails-eventually found Little Moab which was really cool and stunning views...More

Easy to find in Steamboat Springs. No charge for hiking. Some areas can be steep. Good place to see the city from above. Only one area had some mud. No public restrooms just a portable restroom.

There is a dirt road=Blackmere trail up the mountain to the Quarry which right now is dry and walkable. Four more miles beyond and further up Emerald Mountain is still under deep snow so can't speak for that. These are multi use non motorized trails....More

My husband and I enjoyed hiking part of the mountain in the snow. We were able to hike for at least 30 minutes in with just our hiking boots. We did see a lot of people cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Lots of dogs also...More
