Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you enjoy riding on windy mountainous roads you will love this pass. There are also some other incredible tracks in the area avoiding the main road. I got so caught up in enjoying the ride I didn't bother stopping for the monkeys.

Really loved this experience, my husband and I hired scooters, and rode from Senggigi to the harbour and then to Pusuk Pass, loved seeing the monkeys sitting and going about their business on the side of the road, then we saw the area where you can stop and buy bags of peanuts for about $1 to feed to the monkeys, really wonderful experience and enjoyed the help from the rangers who had ID tags, highly recommend.

Drive there is incredible, beautiful scenery up Mount Pusuk. However, it became clear upon arrival that the monkeys were there due to the human traffic feeding them; therefore creating a v unnatural environment. This was at times distressing, as tourists would irresponsibly litter and feed the monkeys human products (including wrapped chocolate and water bottles), all for a photo.
Extremely disappointed, wouldn't recommend. Please do not contribute to this irresponsible tourism by feeding the monkeys products for human consumption and littering.

Some cars was stopped at the hill, in order to see the nature monkey but not wild

It was very fun, and the monkey will ate bread that you offered to them

It was pity to see that many garbages was left at this place, but to have the experience to saw those monkeys at the hill which near to the main road, was awesome

Recommended to stop by and visit this place for a moment

A nice excursion from Senggigi Beach is to feed the wild monkeys dominating the rain forest jungle in the Puncak/Daun Pusuk Area at an elevation of about 900m above sea level. The easiest, just take a taxi (round trip about 250 000 IDR or about 20 USD) to go there and ask the taxi driver to stop during the 45 mins journey at Gunung Sari Market to buy a bunch of bananas. Some 10-15000 IDR, i.e. about a Doller will do, to make - not only - many of the apes very happy, but your kids or friends as well. For your way back you should take the beach road via Bangsal to Senggigi rewarding you with beautiful views across the blue sea including some of the Gilis and very often Gunung Agung, Balis holy volcano.

It's a monkey forest in puncak pusuk pass, we can see the blue sea from there. It's only 15 minutes destination from pelabuhan Bangsal (the port from where we can cross to Gili trawangan). The weather is nice, the monkeys were 'polite' compared to there in Sangeh Bali. Bring peanuts or bread when visiting this spot.

We took a round trip from senggigi in a taxi for $40. We left senggigi to words Mataram then turned up the hills to where these monkey are. Kept going on same road down mounten past where you take boats to the gillis, then along the coast to senggigi. Very interesting drive and good views.
The monkeys are very freindly as you can see from the photo. If only I know how to get photos on here!

Get a scooter and take a ride.the road up there is very nice and a fun ride. The monkeys are definitely there because humans are feeding them. There are a bunch of food vendors just before the area to sell you food for the monkeys. It’s cool to see but not actually natural. The monkeys are there for the free grub.

We made our way to the north of Lombok from the south and stopped of here as planned. We enjoyed the ride on our bikes up and down the mountain but the view was not hay great. Soooo many people there just hanging around rather than enjoying the view. We only spent 5 mins here before leaving to the better stop off point of Bukit Selong. Here you get a much better view and less people.

Top tip: don’t pay the entrance fee, you get just as good view from the road side barriers.

We hired a scooter and rand went to monkey forest on our own, it's easy to find and the monkeys at the top are very friendly, however the one as you descend are a little more wild so be a bit more careful. Fro. Senagiggi it's about 40 minutes but well worth it. The scooter are about £3 a day and well worth investing in, lombokis mot difficult to navigate and it's great to explore the villages that see very little tourism, they are wonderful people who smile and wave
